The Great Republic of Texas - Dallas

« on: July 21, 2011, 03:02:09 PM »

In an effort to share the experience with those tied to the leather of an easy chair and air in our faces of the type that spins the electric meter, here is an opportunity to partake in the experience of Inzane 2011. Hopefully many will use this thread to post pics for those of us holding down the proverbial fort. ~Jeff

This shot is by TJ, shot around 4:30 this afternoon in Raton, New Mexico, "Gearing Up For Rain".

We stopped fotr the night in Walsenburg, CO for the night Thursday.  We met a group of about 20 New Zealanders who rented Harleys and are on a US tour for a month!  5_19 even met a man and wife that are originally from Holland.  These people from NZ know how to have a good time.  They were very interested in the Valks and once we showed on that we all had CTs on the rear, they brought all of them over to have a look.  They couldn't believe that "you blokes" actually ride with CTs on the bikes!!
On another note, met Scott, a friend of 5_19, in Dalhart for lunch for mexican food.  He is in the dairy business too.
At dinner at the local KFC, we met 5 bikers, 2 of which, were from Vernon/Wichita Falls where we had met 5_19 earlier in the morning.
It was an interesting day yesterday and today is looking to be another great day out on the road.

At the hotel for the night.....

Enjoy the trip guys.

No pictures to offer since I'm in my lazyboy, but here's a prayer for all.

Oh my Lord, hear my call to You today.  I ask that You provide a hedge of protection and safety that surrounds those traveling to and from InZane.  A hedge that blankets all afflicted with Valkyrieitis with Your tender Mercy and shields them from evil.  Father, give these motorcyclists wisdom and guideance and allow them to bask in the natural beauty You have created for them to enjoy as they travel the highways and back roads.  Lord, let their machines operate flawlessly and may a cool wind always be at their back.  Thank you God for allowing us to love You and each other.  In Jesus' name, Amen.

"Paradise in a state park in Colorado at 10150 ft""

They spent the night Friday in a Longmont, Co. hotel after getting to Cheyenne for Frontier Days w/o a room reservation. "Sixty mile u-turn" and it looks like they picked up another rider too.

The route that Bullgoose, Early Bird and RainMaker are taking does.  We just pulled into Sweetwater and will be in Deal's Gap in the morning.

Bullgoose and Early Bird get ready to depart Galloway, AR (just east of Little Rock) Saturday morning.

Just past the Mississippi river, stopped in Memphis for a quick break

Arriving in Sweetwater, TN for the night.

At dinner at Bradley's BBQ, the best restaurant in Sweetwater. Getting some sleep before heading to the Tail of the Dragon tomorrow.

We arrived in Bellaire today, and had dinner at Toonie's.  First thing we noticed before we went inside was a sign in the window

in fact, those signs were everywhere in town!

We went into Toonie's and one of the first things we saw was another sign

Bike washing Time in Apple Valley!

TP made sure that Pat and I washed our bikes so as to not embarrass him and Nancy on our ride into Michigan tomorrow.

He also made sure that we had dyna-beads in our tires.  Thanks TP! cooldude

Fairly uneventful day for Bullgoose, Early Bird and RainMaker.  Just lots of miles through North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Ohio. Stopped at Early Bird's sisters house for the night.

Tomorrow, 400 miles to Bellaire.  Piece of cake!

This is a great thread.  Thanks to all the contributors taking time out of their runs to post pictures.  It's like watching a race between the various groups, from Texas to Michigan.  Of course, the object is not to get there the fastest, but to post the most jealousy-inducing photos along the way.

Met new friends yesterday, Free Play (Dick) and Margo from California. Dick is the one who has figured out how to make the u-joints rebuildable, has been running one for 3K miles and brought one to Inzane for all to look at.  I think it is a great solution.

We took a ride out to the Old Mission Point Lighthouse.

Here's Free Play and Margo at the Lighthouse parking lot

Capt. Morgan and his Valk

The Lighthouse

View into the bay - the tide is out

So I decided to wait until it came back in.....

But, Dick and Margo convinced me otherwise.  So we went back and found this little turnout about 8 miles south of the Lighthouse

Money shot?

Happy Valk Rider

maybe this is the money shot....

Got back, too tired.  Had Des fix a small problem with my Ultimate seat (he's so good!) and then went to the opening ceremony and slept in my chair.  Too tired to do anything but shower and hit the bed early.

Tomorrow, more riding and more pictures.

Didn't ride today - stuck around ground zero and did some raffle ticket selling along with the rest of Disco's volunteers, visited vendors and helped with a little wrenching

First, TJ in the parking lot

f-stop and Disco working at the registration/ticket sellin' booth

TJ heading out for the morning ride

Jimmy (Hayhauler) hauls out of the parking lot, too!

Scott and Dave do a little wrenching on Dave's bike (nut cage mod) while being closely supervised

Willow lets the guys know the motor is nearer the front of the Valk.

These are the Valkyrie castings that were for sale at $80 last year at Inzane.  Only $45 this year.  They are not perfect but would make great paper weights or other decorations.  If anyone wants one in DFW, let me know and I'll buy it and bring it back with me - no shipping cost.

After the daily ride, TJ returns.  Disco has successfully fought a cherry tree and shows the spoils of victory.

Thursday evening, there was a pork dinner at Lucas, a Summit Creek restaurant at the bottom of ski runs.  We also took a ride on the ski lift (round trip) and got a fantastic view of the area.

No one gets into the spirit better than Flamingo Babe.  Notice her hat for the pork dinner.

Tomorrow, riding to the 'tunnel of trees" on the way to the Macinack Island and a visit "Somewhere in Time".
