I noticed Red Eye sells a Stealth DeSmog kit.  I thought at one time I saw directions on doing the desmog without removing the gas tank?  Did I dream it or is that possible?  A link to directions would be great.

His stealth kit works.
Most go with the normal desmog though
Have bought twice from him-never a problem.

What would be the reason to use the Stealth desmog? Inspections?

Go with the full desmog.   The stealth is definitely enticing (I know, I seriously considered it), but the full is much better.  I used fx6's kit.  Very easy.  Just make sure you only tap the freeze plugs in to flush, not further or you could crack the block.

The stealth desmog requires too much work with the custom tool creation, getting the rubber over the tubes, etc.  It really is much easier to do a full desmog.  You'll also never have to wonder if your lower hoses are leaking like you would have to do with the stealth.

Anyway, I considered the stealth because I did not want to remove the airbox ( heard the nightmares), it was actually quite easy (I tied the intake runners together with zip ties, then cut those zip ties once in)  and I fixed a wrongly seated tube in the process.  Bottom line, if you do the stealth desmog and it does not fix your issue, you will always wonder.  Do a full desmog and you know it is something else.

recently desmogged my son's valk....no need to buy expensive kit; get 14mm freeze plugs from Napa (although i think they overcharged me for the plugs, a bit over $4). cut the chrome tube on bottom of both heads and plug with JB Weld. Read the desmog articles on shoptalk. New caps for the intakes and freeze plugs...less than $10

Like Ken says: That's the easiest way.

No need for special parts or fabrication.

Gets all the smog stuff off the motor and cleans up the top of the motor quite nicely.

just don't get heavy handed with the freeze plugs and simply tap them in easily.

There is virtually no pressure behind the plugs, all you are basically doing is plugging up exhaust keeping it from coming through the small ports.
