I recently got a CB from Mike at valkyrie bling...just got it in and trying it out.  noticed that there seems to be noticable interference from the engine coming thru into my headset speakers...almost like there is a microphone on the transmission or something...the interference changes as the engine RPM changes...mayube electrical interference from the alternator or something..i was wondering if others have this issue also and if anyone has done any additional/special grounding to the CB unit to eliminate.  right now the CB is in my battery box so there is no contact from the outside of the CB unit to the metal chassis anywhere.

thanks

All I can tell you is what I've read. The alt for the IS model has a noise suppressor on it, to stop the sparking noise from the plugs.

Others should be able to help you better.

you definitely need a noise suppressor.  One should have come with the cb, as they all do from the factory (OEM).  If you didn't get one then you got an incomplete unit.

Honda, when the units were still available, furnished 2 separate noise suppressors.

1.) Noise Suppressor A part# 08118-MN500-05.
To be connected in the harness at right side neck behind steering stem. Inline connection to the 2-Pin connector (Black)

2.) Noise Suppressor C part# 08118-MN500-07.
Attached at the alternator cable mount and grounded to alt. housing.

To my knowledge,
Suppressor A is no longer available.
Suppressor C might still be available through Honda.

If memory serves me correctly, Part A is for the I/S unit and Part C is for the Std/Tourer unit.

Std/Tourer/Interstate all do better with both suppressors.
When I installed the HondaLine CB I installed both Suppressors in my Tourer with out a problem. Connecter was there for "A" in the neck harness! Not sure what that existing line does/goes, but it's applicable to all models.

Filter "A" was never listed on the Interstate parts fiche. But, both filters were furnished with the HondaLine CB for post manufacturer assembly installations for Standards & Tourers The unit & controls were CB only. No am fm radio.
3 years ago I got one of only a handful of "A" filters left in the country.
If either of these suppressors are still available they would have to be ordered directly through a Dealer by number not from the fiche directly.
That's why I furnished the part #'s.

Note:
These [Honda] filters provided little suppression for the Sony stereo I installed in the fairing for my Tourer. For that I installed an in-line suppressor available from automotive stereo installation shops. Perhaps that would be enough in this case for the OP and his CB install.

+1 on the above.  Did you get the suppressor that plugs into the wiring under the right neck cover?

I've tried to find the suppressor that comes on the IS as stock, but other than finding the parts under the above listed part #, I've been  unable to find where it is on the IS.

Now, I have removed the motor/alt and the wire harness, so would need to figure out where everything goes before I can find the connectors for the alt.

Parted out my IS, but wouldn't mind keeping the suppressor and relays, but I need to label them as to what they are.

here's where they are and what they look like...open the installation instructions

http://www.valkyrienorway.com/download.html

I sent Dag the scanned copies of the owner's manual for the standard/tourer that I saved from my cb.  He was nice enough to post and share for everybody.
