forward controls

has anyone installed Interstate forward controls from Big Bike Things ? just purchased and am puzzled by install instructions. when following directions the shift progression changes so that you go in to first with your heel and upshift by pressing with your toe. I have experience with both rattlebars kickshifter and regular Big Bike Things forward contols and neither affected oem shift pattern. where am I going wrong ?

I got the forward controls from BBT, but they are for the Standard/Tourer and I couldn't get the dang things to work no matter what I tried. They're in a box collecting dust in my garage now. I wasn't impressed with the instructions either.

I had the forward controls for standard/tourer on my 98 standard and theyn worked perfectly. Only reason for changing is to place my feet a little more comfortably due to a 68 year old bad back. If I dont get new ones working guess I will put first set back on. Have purchsaed several items from BBT and always well pleased with quality, but you are right about instructions--they SUCK!!! Also very disappointed that I sent inquiry to Barry (the mfg.) and have not had a reply from him. Iguess he is one of the chosen few who can afford to lose good customer for no service after the sale.

Do a search on 'forward controls' from the Home page. It seems I remember a few posts that said it was weird getting used to the reversed shift order, so you are not the first; and you may just have to get used to it.
Also, I didn't know they made these for the IS. Keep us posted, as I would like a brake pedal in that position, if only for the cruise control...

I had a set also on my standard but did not care for them at all. Could not get them adjusted properly to shift good. Kept on binding up no matter what I tried. I also did not like the reverse shifting setup. The brake side control was virtually useless for me as well. I went back to my Kick shifter which I love.
