tool called an ez out..use it by drilling a smaller hole into broken bolt then inserting ezout tool by tapping lightly with hammer and then use a adjustable wrench to turn ezout in left hand direction to hopefully remove broken bolt.. the trick is to try to drill hole as close to center of bolt as possible..a little heat helps...but use at your our risk

If you're talking about the kickstand spring bolt there is no problem.

You will find a jam nut on the backside that when you loosen it, the broken remaining part will easily screw out.

Refer to this fische: http://www.hdlparts.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=148120&category=MOTORCYCLES&make=HONDA&year=1998&fveh=3466

The nut to which Ricky-D refers is #19 on the parts diagram.  It's easy to miss that it is the retention nut for the kickstand spring "hook" bolt (#11 on the diagram) since is also has the hose holder (#12) attached.

Note: the bolt end may or may not unscrew when you take the nut off.  Either way, it's easy to separate it from whichever part it stays in by grabbing and turning it with small vice grips, channel locks, or pliers.

I had to drop my stand off the bike to get the back nut loose. After that the broken piece screwed out with just my fingers.

Going back to the microfiche, is # 11 the bolt that broke?

Good point.  We all assumed it was, since it is the usual culprit.

What about it, deadvelvet?  Did we assume incorrectly?
