The State of confusion.

I like to work with my hands. I actually relish working...and getting dirty...on something I care about.

Sweat. Dirt. Blood.

Yep. Not popular in today's world...where a nice suit is worn as a badge that says, "Hey, look it me...I don't have to sweat when I work." Those that can and do work...and sweat...even though they may be very skilled at something that takes a lifetime to learn...just aren't valued...aren't paid.

Yeah, it's the world today...and I have to move in it. I wear the clothes.

They don't fit.

But my own time is my own time...so I have me a project. Some of y'all already know about it. A big honkin' project. A project that's nearly at the edge of my reach/grasp.

You can't grow if you don't dream...and stretch to your limits now and again.

Well, I've been working...lots of stuff. Some wiring, leveling, a bit of plumbing...but it's going slow. We're taking our time. It's a big project...to be done right.

Oh, and we have such plans for this place...

It's hard work. Sometimes dirty. There's been some blood.

And power tools are involved! (and lasers! YEAH!)

Anyway, some of the first work is to repair anything that allows further damage or weathering. This means the windows that had been been neglected for some 50 years.

But it's all attached you see...

Here's the condensed version:

Walked upstairs to pull two window sashes for repair on Jan 19. Next thing I knew I had a 5 x 7 foot hole in the wall. (I told the wife the crowbar slipped)

It got worse before it got better:

Then it got even worse:

It got a little better:

Then a LOT better. This picture is from this weekend:

So now, after nearly 3 months to the day...I'm just now ready to actually work on the window sashes again...that thing I walked up the stairs to do in the first place!

Sooo...six sashes to work on to finish up this project...the way it's been going I figure I'll probably have to sod the lawn before they'll actually fit...

But progress. And I'm proud of it...even though it's such a small part of the overall house.

As long as it moves forward...as long as I can work.

And we are kind of excited about the new paint colors too...

(more about the windows here.

Hang in there Daniel. Rome was not built in a day. Looking good.

I do that stuff for a living and even with best of plans and intentions it always takes twice as long. Looks good and love the paint colors.

While I don't wear a suit to work, I do dress nice.  So much so, that on days like today, when I ride the Valk and dress the part, folks comment on how far I take 'Casual Friday'...  But, I'm good at what I do, so I wear the costume most days.

I'd rather be making sawdust, or bustin' my knuckles changing out a ball joint, or be diggin' a hole for a fence or a new tree...  I love gettin' dirty, and I know you do too  Wink

Best part, is when all is said and done, you will be able to kick back and tell everyone that will listen, you did it the right (your) way  cooldude

Yep, it is better to "do it right" than to have to do it over".

"the crowbar slipped" - you are lucky the wife didn't take that crowbar to your head Daniel!

Great project... You are becoming "one" with the house!

You will either master it, or if not, maybe a padded room in a nice peaceful place?

I'm betting on the former of those two selections. Keep up the good work... I'll expect an invite to the housewarming in... oh... a few years Daniel. Best to ya!
