High speed jets

I have not done anything to my Valks carbs because they work. When I had the Nomad I changed out the jets after going to a RoadHouse exhaust and Hyper Charger air box. Pretty common mod for the Vulcan crowd. Some reported a signifcant drop in mileage others had no change. Until I read that link in the other thread I wondered why. Now I think I have it.
The larger jets only come into play a near WOT. So unless you do alot of sustained high acceleration or really high speed there really should be no change. I didn't see any drop, in fact with the 2 into 1 exhaust and the more open air box I actually got a small increase. I had enough extra mid-range power that I was less inclined to open it up to accelerate.
Does this make sense?
