the shock bushings you can get from darryl at xf6-custom. he makes his own, and they are guaranteed forever. makes alot of difference in the handling/ride....i have had them on both of my valks for several years now...great bang for the buck.

Excellent, got a link?  I have a 35-45 mph wobble, seems like front end, but I know some can be caused from the rear, like a sloppy set of bearings. Forks and springs, all other internals replaced last year, as well as head bearings. I ride the bag outta that thing! Two up, fully loaded, cruise at 85mph everywhere, with 115 mph bursts at least daily.

Was the pic of the shock bushing taken with weight off the rear? Because with weight ON the rear then you can really tell the the bushing is gone as the bolt head and eye will be concentrically offset closer to the TOP of the eye. In my case I could even see rubber poking out behind the shock eye. They were bad. But the good news is that replacing them took twenty minutes (for all 4) and it made a noticeable handling and ride difference. I ordered Gary's poly bushings and had them in like three days. For that matter, if you wanted to take them apart to really look at them closely it's a five minute job.
Oh, and if you cleaned the thing once and a while it'd be easier to tell just looking. That rear end is disgusting! My IIRC.

Gotta be the salt air up around you redflash. My exposed aluminum parts are nowhere near as coorroded as yours are. And yes-i do ride in the winter. Looking at pictures that have been posted from a lot (not all) of bikes that live near an ocean coast seems to be a recurring theme. Just saying. Ain't no expert but one of my first jobs when i got to the fleet was corrosion control on U S Navy aircraft. I had some serious front end wobble til i replaced the shock bushings. Since my winter maint no more problems. Between this board and paying attention to WHAT the lady is trying to tell-lotsa folks here more than willing to help-figure my phat ghurl STILL be running strong LONG time after i'm taking my dirt nap.  Good luck with your repair schedule. RIDE SAFE.

Too funny, it's a RIDER, not a show bike  The paint is a little road weary too, but it runs and rides well, that' s what I need it to do. The pic of the shock bushing is with no load, just sittin in the driveway, uncentered, can't be good either way.

Yeah Anvil-looking at pinwall and some other m/c part out places it are REAL easy to pick out the parts that lived in salt air-or the owner weren't real big on washing his scoot.  Here in a bit gonna get my fat a$$ outin this here chair and wash and shine mine up. Got some dirt road ridin in yesterday-weren't planned-just turned out thataway.  When i did the maint earlier this year it was rather a pleasent surprise how clean the backside on my lady actually was.  RIDE SAFE.

Well, I dig what you mean about riding, it's just that occasional cleaning will make it easier to spot things that are unusual, small leaks, weeping grease etc. I'm kinda anal about that stuff. It just comes with what I do. Mine's hardly a showbike either but I give it a good washing if I see it getting too dirty for my liking.

Hmm, Gary's bushings were pretty easy to get in but I'm a mekkanik. I guess the two piece bushings might be easier for the mechanically declined.

Not only washed and shined-little detail work while i was resting.  12 years old coming up on 50 thou on the miles-and the old girl looks pretty dam fine when she be a slicked up. There are stone chips and the odd scratch-but ya gotta look fer em.  Anvil-ya hit the nail on the head-keepin her a little cleaner makes problem areas stand out quicker.  Wiping down the crank case(and daniel meyers post) helped me find the leaking shifter seal BEFORE it became a huge mess.  Ah well-to each their own.  RIDE SAFE.

Tad over 100K in 12 months...... Right after heart bypass surgery, they had almost gave up the ghost on me and I decided I want to do a Million miles on a motor before I got stuck in the ground. I was gone for a month the 1st trips, then it was like 21 days each outing, and then finally down to 2 weeks out. Had a 10 day rest between trips. That was when I decided on the CT thing. Only went back to motor tires when I couldn't get a CT put on. Even got my Alaska trip in there, so as to make all the lower 48 and Alaska on the Valkyrie. Finally got Hawaii on a rented Hardley when we went over on vacation. My youngest daughter also got Hawaii with me on that trip. Mom, I, Valarie and her then husband went over for 10 days. Would love to do it again before I croak. Maybe on our 60th wedding Anniversary, if my ticker ticks that long. LOL

pickin up bearings and seal today, all MRC brand, from a bearing house, not a dealer! about 71 bucks for all 3 parts. Also have new cush drives to install, should feel like a new machine soon!
