No heaven above us. No Hell below. Nothing to kill or die for. Imagine all the people living life in peace. Dreamer yes. But peace will come one day, just not the way he thought. IT's a interesting concept. It really is easy to imagine this. But it will never be that way. Until the Prince of Peace has his way. Messiah will win out. What a Beautiful Song.

None of it. Not one little bit.... I just find it peculiar, that someone would use a song and lyrics, that proclaims that the world would be a better place, without the constraints of "religion", to propose religion as "the answer". No hate, Big Al...none at all. R

I don't think that the song necessarily promotes "atheism". I think what Lennon was getting at was that too many people wear their religion on their sleeve and that divides us.

I read an artical just this morning. Apparantly Yoko has been hiding the fact that John was a closet born again Christian. Just goes to show.....dont judge someone by what they let you see on the outside

Actually, no. Why can't you folks let something be, just exactly what it IS, and not what YOU'D like it to be? I mean, next it will be telling non-theists, what THEY believe...oh yeah, way too late for that. As for Chris, I've READ some of the sites you refer to...it's all over the "Christian" pages, that he went "through a phase". Of course, these are the same places that say Yoko ruled his life, and when he came out of the phase, his life was terrible, all because he, just as suddenly, DIDN'T believe any more. Of course, you get this, too: In January 1979 he and Yoko traveled to Cairo, having heard that there was a major illicit archeological dig taking place. Both of them believed that ancient Egyptian artifacts contained magical powers, and Yoko had dedicated one of the rooms in their apartment to Egyptian artifacts. "I love Egyptian art," she said. "I make sure I get all the Egyptian things, not for their value but for their magic power. and Vacationing in Florida in the spring, he again watched Jesus of Nazareth on its by now regular Easter showing, but his reaction was completely different from the one he had had two years before. He kept joking that they should just get on with it and fast-forward to the crucifixion. Seaman, who was present with John's sons, Sean and Julian, recalled, "John began working himself up into a tirade against Christianity, saying that it had virtually destroyed what was left of pagan culture and spirituality in Europe-a great loss to civilization." He then announced that he was now a "born again pagan."Whatever... R

I think he wrote some great music but the man was kind of a hypocrite. But that's what I take from the song and from what I know about the guy's beliefs.
