I'm putting the IS 'VALKYRIE' emblem back on my painted trunk. I ordered it and it comes on a strip to keep the letters aligned. Seems like the strip can also be used as a guide to place the emblem on the trunk. There is a V cut into the backing. I'm thinking that should be centered over the key hole and also allows the strip to mold to the curve of the trunk.

Anyone else put this emblem on and able to offer mounting tips? I'm wondering if the bottom of the backing should align with edge of trunk lid?

Craig

Hope this helps...

The notch does appear to be the center mark.

I did the same on my IS since the previous owner removed the lettering. I just looked at a picture and it turned out fine. Just make sure all of the letters are positioned correctly on the tape before install, a couple of mine turned slightly during shipping.

Does it appear in Valkyrie emblem that there is an intended arc at each end? Nitro said he had to straighten out a few.  I didn't know if that was to match the curve in the trunk lid. The installed picture shown and others I have looked at seem to show the lettering straight.

I think they should be straight. Two of my letters had rotated and one dropped out of alignment with the others.

Time for action. I walked out to parking lot and stuck it. I used the V as the center. Outer ends off backing to edge of trunk lid. Touched down in center and worked out from there. Came out pretty good I think. I have the tank and saddlebag emblems to go.
