Wanted to miss the record heat predicted for Texas and Oklahoma today so when it came time to stop I just kept going.

Bellaire MI to my front door (according to my odometer) 1284 miles.

6am to 3:10am run...add an hour with the time difference....22(ish) hours of hard running.

Bonus! Meteor showers!  Big ones! Visible my entire run through Oklahoma. Really cool!

More later.

Wow Daniel. I drove 350 miles in the cage in AC comfort in five hours and I was tired.

Exactly what I was thinking. Glad you're home safely, Daniel. Was good to see you again.

That many straight hours in the saddle is too risky for me. Did it once in a cage. Looking back on it, I shouldn't have. Tunnel vision was creeping in. I know I wasn't being safe and was probably a hazard to anyone else I encountered on the road that trip.

I don't think I was a danger to anybody except myself. I was good to go for a quite a bit more as far as alertness. My butt and legs were out of endurance though.

The dangerous part was through northeastern Oklahoma. The wildlife out there is plentiful and suicidal. Fortunately a lot of it was small too.

Some interesting stories coming from that run.

I'm sure the association has a category for that, but only if you do the paperwork and file the fees appropriately to be "recognized."

Yeah, I've run quite a few of those, and even did all the paperwork. When it came time to stick the check in the mail I've always shrugged and forgot about it.

Great to see you Daniel and glad to hear you're home safe. Meteor showers are cool indeed.

Seeing em from a scooter is almost like ridin' through the cosmos. Which, of course, is exactly what we're doing while we're spinning on this rock, ridin' or not.

I thought i saw something out there in the blackness running thru McCalister then it dawned on me it was metors. I too wanted to miss the Texas heat and made it home in 21 hours for 1250 miles. Theshower in Springfield was refreshing. The scariest part was in Pryor Oklahoma when a 18 wheelers load shifted at a red light and onto a car next to it and IN FRONT OF ME!!!!!!

Saw that load-shift mess too...they were starting to sort things out so I figure I was about 10-20 minutes behind you there.

I figure you stopped maybe 10 times for gas/bathroom/food.  That would be maybe 12 minutes per stop, and makes actual road time of 20 hours.  You had to average 64 mph.  That's movin!

#1. PLEASE tell me your Valk isn't marking her territory in that picture?!?!?!

#2. What did you do with Daniel's bike? That one's clean!!!

#1. Yep, she was just fueled and heating up sitting in the sun and is piddling a little gas out the overflow.
#2. Heh...some very nice folks snuck up on her and stole all my dirt! (waves at Barb and Don and the impromptu charity bike wash)

Don't try that on a HARLEY.

You would still be prying your butt off of that thing.
