Can anyone in the upstate recommend a good mechanic that knows his Valks? I've heard some stories that some dealers weren't familiar with them and that's scary!

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

I don't have even a vague clue as to who I'd bring my bike to around here.

I bet you a quarter that this guy would be good, but it would be a bigger deal
than just dropping it off at the corner...

I hung around his shop one morning for about 45 minutes while he replaced
one of my front wheel bearings and got me back on the road. He doesn't know
Valks, per se, but he know motorcycles well enough that he put the front
wheel back on, tightened everything in the order specified by the manual (which
he didn't have) and even squished down on the forks a few times before
tightening the right axle pinch bolts...

Thanks Mike but I meant upstate SC- NOT NC!!  Grin Yep, that's not just around the corner!

Well as you know, we are limited on dealers. Foothills in Powdersville, Powersports on Wade Hampton, and Performance in Seneca which I'm not familiar with except for their emails to sell a Victory or some other bike.

Thanks man,

Tony

What exactly are you trying to have done or get done to your scoot?? You have a WEALTH of knowledge here and bunches of folks more than willing to help. I did the spline service the front and rear brake pads the rear diff service and the timing belt change out. All because of this board and the folks here willing to help. Granted i got my hands dirty-got more than a little frustrated-but i got er done. uglystupid2 Just sayin and just wonderin. Stealers i mean dealers DO NOT work cheap. My dealer here gets $65.00 an HOUR. Even 2 or 3 hours be a lot and you STILL have a real chance of them doing it WRONG. tickedoff Bet you have some one close that can and will help you out. Just curious. coolsmiley RIDE SAFE.

Old2soon $65 an hour is cheap compared to $85-$100 hr here!  Grin Oh all that you mentioned I know I can do with the help of the good people on this board. I've already done a lot on my VTX which is vey similar. I'm thinking "what if I can't" and I'm refering to the carbs. I'm a carbaphobic! 2funny 2funny

I've tried to rebuild Holleys and quadrajets and when I got through they run worse! Now that's been many years ago but the phobia is still there- and then there's the dreaded hydrolock!! I don't know if that's a new work but I've never experienced it and my VTX is the only FI bike I've ever had.
Having said that, I can't ever remember cutting off my petcock and the worse thing that happened was leak a little gas that never hurt nothing. Now I'm so paranoid I have went out in the middle of the night to the garage to make sure the petcock was off! Mind playing trick, or could be my sometimers disease! 2funny 2funny
