Thick, winter weight turtle neck, wet down at each stop, under the mesh. Bandannas rather than the cool collars with ice in the rolled up bandanna.

I'm commuting daily in this hell.  I wear a vented jacket and vented gloves and pour water over my sleeves and into my gloves at every opportunity, it works really well right now with the humidity so low.

Louisiana humidity adding water just makes ya wet and hot.  Long sleeve denim shirt, mesh kevlar gloves, full face helmet, avoid traffic lights.

Me too. I've ridden less this summer than I have in 40 years.

I'm in Kearney, Nebraska with the spousal unit at the Buffalo County Fair.  It's 68 degrees this morning, high is expected to be 82 and it rained this morning.  That's one way to wear something different to stay cool in the insane heat.  cooldude

However, I will be wearing a cage next week at the meeting, which is another way to stay cool.  My valk is resting comfortably in the garage after the last two weeks of heavy exercise.

The A/C control on mine is situated on the right side of the handlebars.  Twist it for fan speed adjustment.

Seriously, when I'm not riding to work, and thus restricted in what I wear, I put on a t-shirt and shorts under my mesh jacket and pants.  Lots of water, and then I find myself wishing that the idiots who designed summer riding gear didn't think that black was such a wonderful color.  Still, the gear keeps the sun off me directly, and the wind keeps me from getting above ambient temps, at least.

Mine must be broke. All it does on mine is turn up the heater.

I don't care what it turns up.  I just want it on HIGH!

A vest by Silver Eagle Outfitters that you put in a large zip lock bag with, I think, 16 oz of water works well. It soaks all the water into it. The zip lock bag comes with the vest. Because of it's design, what you wear under it will not get wet. If riding a long distance, you can put it a restroom sink and replenish the water after it drys.

They don't work here very well most of the year, too humid.

Does work well for me. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla. Speaking of humid, I live in Florida.

Whether a cooling vest or wet shirt under a vented or mesh jacket, in my experience the important factor is having enough wind hitting you to provide cooling.  The cooling vests did not work for us at all on the 1800 'wing.  There was too much wind protection.  Even behind the Memphis Shades batwing on my bike, I have to open up the Baker AirWing uppers to allow enough air to hit me.  I'd bet the different experiences of Houdini and RogerD are explained by Interstate versus Standard.

That could be; my vest has been hanging in the garage all year, it's not worth the clammy wetness to wear the thing.  If I throw it in the fridge it works well until it gets hot then it is like wearing a hot, wet vest.
