Hi members, I've lusted for a Valk since the first time I seen the comercial on tV with a very brave man powersliding it on the dirt. I'm no newbee to bikes with my first being a brand new 69 ct 70. I just purchased this bike to share rides with my wife. Somehow my ducati isn't her view of what a 2 up ride is cooldude

Need help on 2 questions. went to change the preload from 5 to something less. one side no problem the other side gives you 2 choices 4 or 5. Cannot turn the shock to any less of a setting. Did the previous owner mess it up from going from 5 to 1 on preload? All riding will be done with my 245lbs and my wife at about <150. Should I consider afermarket shocks?

also, seems like when I lean it over either direction a get a slight vibration. Is this normal? I can slightly notice it reaching the bars. Previous owner seems to have really been on top of maintenance. It is a 2002 model with 28k miles. Tires are dunlops with approx 75% left.

#1 from dealing with my shadow, the problem you are describing is the result of the po going from 5 to 1  Check Pinwall cycle parts on ebay for used stock replacements.  as for the wobble, maybe wheel bearings.... edit your profile to show where you are, this site is FULL of knowledge, and helpful people.  They've saved my butt a time or ten (thousand). Oh and welcome to the nut house.... uglystupid2

Welcome to the insanity. uglystupid2 Mostly in a good way-mostly. 2funny Check your shock bushings. Remove the fasenters that hold the shocks on and look at the bushings. If the aren't centered you will need to replace them. cooldude Check your COLD air pressure. Need about 42 44 P S I front and 44 46 P S I rear. See if any of that helps. Do not be shy bout asking questions here. Research some thing and you stand a good chance of finding your answers in the archives. See if you can get an extension on that shock adjustment tool and try er again thataway. coolsmiley If you do get it working never go from 5 to 1 go 5 4 3 2 1 they work better that way. uglystupid2 Hope some of this helps. RIDE SAFE.

I agree with the above. I suggest that you spend some time on the Shoptalk board. Read everything; it takes a while but will answer many questions and set you up for a lifetime of maintenance, which means a lifetime of trouble free riding.
Welcome home.

Read everything in Shoptalk especially http://www.valkyrieriders.com/shoptalk/Known%20Valkyrie%20Problems.htm.

If you discover your rear bearings are going bad consider performing the Double Row Bearing Mod.

A friendly word of advice.  If Stanley Steamer has a thread with a warning not to open it, heed his warning or you may end up stabbing your eyes with a fork or seeking intensive psychiatric therapy.

take ALL the weight off the shock, or take the shock off. clamp it down and try turning it.

i've gone from 5 to 1 and didn't hurt anything. keep trying Smiley
