What does the data say?

Corinth, Texas

« on: August 08, 2011, 04:11:41 PM »

In my opinion, there is no way to deliver bad news except to deliver it straight up.

Hoghead has been diagnosed with cancer.  It apparently started as prostate cancer, and has spread to his lymph system and spine.  It has become very aggressive, treatment options are limited, and the prognosis is poor.

It is not hopeless.  Matt is a Christian, as am I, and as are many others in this community.  We know that through faith, prayer, and medicine, this can be beaten, if such is in God's plan.

I have Matt's permission to post this and ask for your help.

Please join me in offering up prayers for his healing.

Matt,

Peggy and I will be praying for you. This post also reminded me of an earlier post by Smoking-Joe and I will try to post the link. I found this to be very interesting and worth a shot when I read it and dug into it a little deeper. After I read it I made myself a mental note (remember this one TJ)

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.  We have a very close friend who also went to M.D. Anderson to fight her cancer.  For over three years, it was a rough road for her and her family.   But with the treatment offered by Anderson, her fighting spirit, and all the support given to her through prayer from her family and friends, she was diagnosed cancer-free one year ago last June.  You go HogHead, we'll be there with you in prayer.

I saw a Medical Oncologist today and he relieved some of my anxiety and I am not as hasty to go to MD Anderson until I have test redone on the 28th of this month. I am cancelling my appt. Fri. and will reschedule after the 28th when I have more info. I started a hormone treatment 10 days ago and until that stops working, could be 6 mo. or 2 yrs. but it is inevitable that it will stop at some point and will have to go to other treatments. Although he said that I am incurable and my prognosis is an average of 2 yrs. I am not concerned with that. I no its all in Gods hands and I'm just interested in what i can do today to enjoy my wonderful life without worry of the future. I have a few things that I have to get in order just in case the worst comes to light but at the same time expect the best. Just for today, I am OK. Thanks again my friends for the prayers and good thought s  sent. God Bless and Ride Safe, Matt

Prayers from North Fort Worth.  Hang in there Matt.  May God wrap his arms around you and kick this thing in the butt.  My wife used to be a paramedic and says you are going the the best hospital in the nation for this.  We are all behind you, don't ever give up, don't surrender.
