After 121K miles, I've changed the coolant once. Maybe I should do it again. Changed the cap once. No other issues.

Honda' recommended coolant change is 2yrs. or 8,0000 miles.

You can use any antifreeze/coolant as long as it's a phosphate-free and silicate-free formula.
Pre-mix is handy. 1 gallon should suffice.

Silicates will damage the water pump.

Sandy in AZ. may be only using Water Wetter and not an antifreeze/coolant.
In N.J. I would use the phosphate-free and silicate-free pre-mix formula from Prestone or Peak.

Hoses? Check for rot/condition. You didn't mention your total mileage???
Is the Valk stored outside? - That can age the hoses...
