Years ago, my wife was unpacking from a work related airplane journey. And much to her surprise she found my then 12 year-old son Andy's large hunting knife in a pocket of one of her bags. Unknown to Melody, he had used the same bag when we were at deer-camp that year. It had went to Vegas and back with her without incident. Thankfully.  |

Sorry. I see NO humor, whatsoever, in either someone, ANYONE, attempting to carry a gun on a plane, for ANY excuse. Nor do I find ANY humor in NOT knowing exactly where your piece is, at ALL times.
I also wonder if it would be a big chuckle, had her name been Ayia Al-Zakari...
I've seen many posts belittling the TSA here, for trying to do a very difficult job. I don't agree at all, with the things that have been ridiculed, but then, I'd rather see a little old lady subjected to what she feels is"fondling", than have one little bomb get on board.
Its just one of those necessary evils of this day and age we live in.
And yes, I really DO have a sense of humor. Just some things aren't funny at all.

For what it's worth, my dad was a supervisor at the TSA at Love Field (Dallas' second airport) for several years... He got to do the paperwork whenever this happened, and he's said they averaged about one person a week trying to get through security with a handgun because they forgot they had it... And Love Field is a relatively small airport.
Standard practice was to turn the person over to the local cops, who'd arrest them and book 'em, and generally release them until their court cases came up...

Yeah, well, I'll say the same thing to you that I just now said. You both are arguing that somebody here made a joke about the incident that would have been dismissing the scary part. That's not the case and you know it as well as he knows it. Neither of you are that dense. The joke was when somebody made a silly comment about the girl being pretty. It was a simple little joke. And both of you got your panties all in a wad over it and tried to make it look like it was a joke about the incident. And all that crap about saying what's on your mind in person. You might be hard headed enough to do that but I'll bet you would say it in a more friendly tone than you would behind that keyboard. Normal people just don't act that way in polite company and shouldn't do so here either. To each his own. But you're in pretty bad shape if you can't tell the difference of when your friends are kicking around jokes or when they're taking up for terrorists. And yeah, this has been blown way out of proportion. So I'll shut up. I'm arguing a losing battle with people who just don't like being friendly and throw their attitudes around. |

When is the last time a PLAYMATE hijacked an airplane, or used a gun to commit a crime? When's the last time a MUSLIM did? The playmate was too busy lookin' all HOT to remember to check her baggage for a gun, probably has no idea how to use one. Since she's so hot and all, I say cut her some slack, or send her over to my place for some "discipline". If the Arab chick is hot you can send her as well. But I say profile, and leave the old ladies be. |
