The U.S. Congress sets a Federal budget every year in the trillions of dollars.

Few people know how much money that is so here's created a breakdown of

Federal spending in simple terms. Let's put the 2011 federal budget into perspective:

U.S. income: $2,170,000,000,000
Federal budget: $3,820,000,000,000
New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
Recent budget cut: $ 38,500,000,000 (about 1 percent of the budget)

It helps to think about these numbers in terms that we can relate to.

Remove eight zeros from these numbers and pretend this is the

household budget for the fictitious Jones family.

Total annual income for the Jones family: $21,700
Amount of money the Jones family spent: $38,200
Amount of new debt added to the credit card: $16,500
Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
Amount cut from the budget: $385

It's amazing how many pin-heads cannot grasp this. Most reside in Washingto DC, but at least one lives in Singapore  Grin

This is the General Section of the forum and does not have to be motorcycle related.  And it is very noteworthy as it puts our hugh problem into terms and numbers we can understand and relate to.

If I can't keep to my budget I can't afford stuff.

If the Feds can't then the prices I pay for gas, oil, tires etc etc etc go up.

Sorry to be a stickler, Britman, but.............our wondeful gov't has not passed a budget in almost 900 days now.  Something else Obama can blame Bush for.  Or Anvil can say I made up.   Shocked

Thats easy SE...I was reading all this this am and really feeling bummed.  I mean Obummer is fixin to ruin life as we know it.......I dont want the world he imagines!

So, I go for a ride.  The sun was out (raining now lol) and the heat was down.  Really perfect.  Louis Armstrong was singing "What a Wonderful World" on my mp3 and I just had the thought......you know every time we thought the whole smash was going down, it always passes.  So I just prayed that smarter heads would be elected and we would begin to be a great nation again.  But, if not well me and my Valkyrie were certainely going to enjoy this day...The Power of a Valkyrie....and we did.  Burned up a tank of gas, the bike was (is) running so perfectly,  I even shifted a thousand rpms higher than normal just to let the old gal stretch her legs a bit and  hear those cobras sing some.  Scraped some pegs (ya, we do that in Fl too) and really broke in my new back tire.....and this retarded government can just go suck an egg they arent going to ruin my day.

I feel so much better now!

We been relating to the debt for months now. Wish we could start relating to some 12 inch pot holes  near here not to mention some rusted out bridges all over the country.

remember? shovel ready wasn't so shovel ready (snicker, snicker)
the first 'stimulus' spent about 45 billion on roads and infrastructure, mostly in blue states.
gotta pay back those that helped get him elected

there is bridge replacement going on in KS, NE, OR, OK, and a few others I have been in recently.

next question?
