Ok, it would help if I had taken more pics or taken less time to do this.
Where do the air vent tubes that connect between 1 & 3 and 2 & 4 connect to? I'm at a loss...
these lines:
Any help appreciated.

As I recall, the tubes fit through holes in the cross brace at the rear of the carb bank. Should be two holes for them......I THINK

at the top of your picture......that chrome cross brace...there are two holes right in the middle of that brace....those two hoses go into those holes.....one hose per hole.

Yep, I believe they turn down into the cross member holes.
