So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

Covington, TN

« on: August 13, 2011, 12:48:15 PM »

I have no doubt those on this board will know the answer to this question.  Was Royal Blue with a white skunk stripe a color combination on our Valks?  I'm specifically looking for 2000 - 2002 but the question is still the same.  Was Royal Blue with a white skunk stripe ever an option.

I'm discussing this with a friend, he says it was.  If so, I've never seen or or heard of another like it.  Thanks for any responses.

Check out my buddy's Norway site for any color questions you might have.  Also says how many were produced.

Good luck finding an '02.  There was one for sale... I think in the classifieds a month or so ago.  In Michigan for a STEAL IMO.  17K miles and $6500.  $10K wouldn't buy mine...

I know that ain't reasonable.  But she's mine... and I love her.

Great looking Bike you have Jabba.  Very similar look to what I'd like to do with my 02 Standard (skunk) black with a red stripe.  Would really like to set it up as a solo with that luggage rack.

FYI, you have one of the rarest Valks... 2002 black/red.

I like that black and red bike too.  A LOT.

There are quite a few 2001 Blue/Pearl bikes that look like mine.

I have only ever HEARD of 2 other 2002 Blue/Pearl ones.  And they were BOTH within 4 or 5 VIN's of mine.  Out of the same can of paint.

Side note... Thanks for the set up compliment.  I have the solo bar off of mine now that I have the IS.  Although I might put it back on.  I saw one the other day with a solo rack and a luggage rack and sort of liked it.  That might allow me to take the leatherlykes off.  I do NOT like my Leatherlykes.  I'd like to have a set of hard bags... like Willow's, but he and I already have too much in common.

340 of the blue/stripe stripe made.  Same # as my 97 purple/white.  160 of the 01 red/black IS, and 240 of the 01 champaigne IS.  There are no production #'s for the black/red stripe listed, although I believe we have found at least three VIN set's of #'s, so would mean at least 60 produced.

340 in 01.  how many in 02?

Not 340 I'll bet.  They only made 600 USA Valks in 02.

60 in 02.  But, most do not go by year, just color.  ie, red black st only 60 in 02, but a lot of red/black total.  So, most do not say 02 red/black is a rare color.

My parents reared me  to be honest but, like Dad always said, "If you don't have something good to say, don't say anything."  Especially about a man's bike.   cooldude   It's a nice set up.  Would love to set mine up similar to that but, I'll keep my Leatherette bags.  Just a matter of personal taste.   If you decide you aren't going to put the solo rack back on, let me know.  Or, if you happen to run on another that's for sale, I'd love to hear about it.

Gets a little  confusing for me.  My Standard is Black with a Red stripe.  Not sure about red and black.  Though, if I could find a low mileage 02 or o3 red and black, I'd seriously consider it as a stable mate.   cooldude
