FINALLY finished with carb rebuild & desmog! Due to busy schedule, lack of passion while the temps were over 100, my wife's Magna available to ride and other delays - this took forever! Finished putting it together this morning & she fired right up. Miss in #1 is gone, decel pop is gone and everything looking good.
Will tackle carb sync tomorrow.
Help from this board priceless! Thanks for all the help, articles and pooled experience! Feels great to be on the road again!

While the assembly was off the bike:
Did you do a mechanical synchronization?
Some have done this by using a small diameter drill bit. Probably a decimal size drill bit.
You may not have to do a synchronization if all is well.

Once you complete the sync you'll have a entirely new beast. Mechanical sync is good to get you in the ballpark, but finish the job with a full vacuum gauge sync, and take your time doing it. I was amazed at the difference after I rebuilt mine. Time to get your grin on!

I actually didn't do a mechanical sync. Fired up and runs better than before. This bike has had a high rpm problem since I got it. in the 5500-6500 range it just didn't run out like it should. That's gone! New jets did the trick.
I have a mechanic that has a four column vacuum gauge set up - and he's going to help me with that tomorrow evening. Feels good to work through something like this with your valk and resolve some issues. Felt really good to crank her up this morning and find everything running great!

Using a feeler gauge to set the butterfly valves to be identically open at idle setting. Most use a decimal drill bit for this operation since a feeler gauge doesn't lend itself well, for this particular operation.
