Roll Eyes  Ok I know this has been hashed to death but I still ain't getting no satisfaction! Me = 57 year old fatman (300lbs) and 6' tall with 34" inseem, I have "by the grace of God and genetics" amply caboose with a bad curvature of the spine which makes any seat press on my tailbones after ony 30 min. I have tried Interstate seats, a late model standard , and a older Corbin set with back rest.
1- they all seem to sit to low and far forward, (i almost feel like I'm riding a sport bike or I,m a fat jockey on a small horse) my legs have to tuck back under me somewhat to work the controls. I put highway bars on it to be able to stretch out my legs and that helps some. But what I really would like is a seat that I can ride a couple of hunderd miles before electric shocks start shooting up my spine and I feel like I just had an epidural! If I'm going to spend the coin I want to do it right the first time. My questin is what has been everyones experiences and if they had to do it over, would they make the same choise?
Thanks folks!

Everybody I know that has a Russell seat thinks they're the best. Russell makes the seat to fit you,
and your description makes it sound like you don't think you're generically sized or shaped, so
Russell might be your best bet.

I have an ultimate, it is much more padded than OEM or Corbin, and would probably be better for
your tailbone too...

I'm 6'4" 275#'s and have a 34 to 36" inseam.  I was using a Corbin seat but it was way to low. I had RDL made me a seat using the Corbin pan (so I could use my back rest) Taller and with the seat box move about 1-1/2" back and couldn't be happier. Compared to the Corbin the RDL seat seems about 3" taller. It's a stretch at stop lights but way better then stock or the Corbin. I've never tried the Ultimate so I can't compair the two.  Hope this helps.

I have an Ultimate Big Boy on the Valk and a Russell on my V-Strom. While the Ultimate is waaay better than OEM, I would have been more comfortable riding the Strom to Inzane. I may just "pull the trigger" and get a Russell made for the Valk. I still have an OEM seat to send to them for the build.

I've tried OEM, Corbin, Mustang and Ultimate.   Sad     I wish I had paid the $$ in the beginning and bought the Day Long, it would have been less expensive  uglystupid2    Call Russell Day Long and ask for Heather.  800 432 9566

I've put 70K on a '99 stock seat and think I probably deserve a Russell.  How much coin does it take, and how long after you send them the seat pan do you get it back?

Depends on options.  Is or std.  leather vs vinyl, heated or not, etc.  $7-1200.

You make an appointment, then send it to arrive a few days before that.  Only takes a few days there, and then reshipped.  Should be no more than 2 weeks, or less.

To me the motorcycle seats resemble a padded tractor or implement seat.  Of course you won't find a farmer today sitting on one of them in his GPS, air conditioned, multimedia equiped tractor.  RDL is just down the road from me and I have been thinking of doing their ride in option.

I am saving my $$ for a RDL.  I will go that route.  i have had an Ultimate Big Biy, and sold it for what I paid for it.  It was a LITTLE better than stock for me... but only a little.

I am going to get a 2 piece Russell, so I can use the driver saddle on both the IS and the STD.

Yeah, but you know what's funny? My uncle used to have bar stools made from old tractor seats and you could sit in the all day long. The key was that they were wide and shaped to cradle your cheeks.

Thing is, asses come in many different shapes and sizes. I've heard a few people say that Corbins are uncomfortable. I'm not going to say that they're not, they very well may be for those people. But I've always had success with their products.
