I have a Standard with a Memphis Shade windshield which has no contour. From where the top brace across is there is no room for a windshield pouch bc it will cover my gauges. Tank bibs look good but don't hold much. I have a magnetic tank bag that I love on my other bike which holds a lot, but have noticed fine scratches on the tank from it. Now I don't want to scratch the Valk and am wondering what to do. I thought about velcro, but would look ugly if I removed the bag! I wish there was a bag I could put around the bars/windshield area that would cover my gauges. Any tips will sure be welcome. Thanks!

My InZane riding buddy, Steve K from Iowa, uses a HUGE tank bag... If you could see either one of his Valks, you would swear they were never ridden (meaning, not a scratch, anywhere!).
He has a 'Magnetic' tank bag, and uses a micro-fiber towel, between the tank, and the bag... He is so particular about his bike, that I would assume he never would do that if he felt that it may leave any kind of mark...
Sumptin' ta think about...

I have a 2001 std, and use an expandable tank bag myself.. I also use a micro fiber cloth under it to protect the finish. It will expand large enough to carry a half helmet and gloves, plus camera, and glasses, or all my heated Gerbings, or all my Frog Togs...Don't leave home without it !!

Depending on what you feel you need to have immediately at hand when riding, I have found that cargo pants with the two bellows pockets on the outside legs carry glasses, water bottle, and the few other things I might need going down the road.

I have a 3 pc magnetic tank bag. I just wipe the magnets every time before I lay it on the tank. This thing is like having an extra saddle bag. Single pc is only about 2" high empty but, will hold gloves, shirt, gps, phone water bottle, CD player, and more.

Now that's a good idea!! I just bought a few from Autozone the other day...except they're yellow! I wonder if they come in black, never cared about color until now. Yes, mine does not have a scratch either, knock wood, and want to keep it that way! Thanks Black Dog!

I think I found the perfect solution. It is a clear static cling film, just clean and wax and put on. snidersproducts.com

I always clean my tank and tank bag also and it still scratched her over time!

I think I found the perfect solution. It is a clear static cling film, just clean and wax and put on. snidersproducts.com We use static window tint film to protect the Rune from the tankbag and from the suction cup mounted pillion seat (which protects the rear fender from my luggage!!) -- rinse it off between uses and all is good, so far. And it's quite inexpensive.

fudgie carries a manbag? Don't we all? Speak fer yerself please anvil-thanks. You know-hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Sides-i got that pouch thingy that velcros to my backrest. Never had a tank bag. But no matter how careful you is your gonna pick up dust and we all know it gets eveywhere. I've washed and waxed the bike-put it in the garage and overnite it has a dust film on it just sitting there. RIDE SAFE.
