My '97 Standard has developed a rear fender problem. It is bending down, and is slightly mis-shaped (sagging).  And now I've noticed a crack on the right side. Does anyone know about a repair, or do I need to replace the tail light section of the fender ($600-$700)?  Are there used fenders available?  Any and all help is appreciated! Cry

I think the middle bolt that also holds the rear seat may have stripped out.  Drill it out and replace with a bolt and nut if  it has.  Hoser

Once it has started to crack the only repair for that fender piece involves welding and painting.  When mine did that it was the long term result of a slight bump to the rear fender and the resulting stress.

There are used pieces available.  If you're fortunate you'll find one in your color.

+1 on pinwall.  They have several on there E-bay store at all times.  Shouldn't cost more than $200 usually.  They often have an assortment of colors so maybe you will get lucky.

that was a known problem on the '97 model year, early production bikes.  Honda used to replace them under warranty when they were new.  You're a bit outside that now, even if you had bought the extended 4 year warranty.

As others have stated, you'll either need to weld and repaint or find a replacement.

Good luck with it.
