Hello, I like my 2001 Valkyrie quite a bit. I do miss some simplicity of my old 1977 bmw R100/7. My question is, without going directly to air horns. Is there something that I might put on the bike that will be a little more audible than the OEM horn?. My Uncle Sam and my Father, who are both gone now used to put air horns on everything. My uncle even put a pair on his ridding lawn more, he also had a CB radio mounted so that he could call his wife in the house to bring him a glass of tea.  His yard was not much bigger than a small garden. Ha. Cmon back.

I have a pair of dodge caravan horns on mine. plenty loud when they are under the hood, now attached to the front of the bike out in the open. $5-10 at a u-pull-it

The Stebel Nautilus is realatively inexpensive a takes up very little room on the Valk, but it will get the attenion of most drivers! It is an airhorn in a compact package.

I just mounted 4 car horns under my swing arm attached them to the kickstand cross member and wired them to a relay I hung under the RH side cover. Got them all off of GM cars. Have a cousin that crushes cars all of the time, so finding 4 that worked was easy and the best part was the price FREE. Even the relay came from one of those crusher cars also FREE. Took maybe and hour to make. Works great and sure gets the looks when you give one of those cagers a honk. I took the idea from BIGBF quad horns, look for them on the web and you will get the idea of how to put them together.

MGM  has the BigBF Quads.    Nice and loud.

The Chevy Trike had a set of some funky horns when I bought the kit.

Got tired of people looking at the big boy and then still coming on over into my lane.

I had an 'Aug-ha' (sp) horn off of a 27 Chevy in the shed.   Found it one day, touched it to a battery, and it blasted.

Yes, it was off of a 27 Chev cause I took it off.   It mounted in the frame rail under the driver.   It was my grandfather's car.   Grandma had never driven before, have no idea how old she was, but to make a long story short, she hit the barn with it moving it.....   Bye Bye 27 Chevrolet.   It went to the field with the rest of the cars that no run and was parked.    Well you know how inquisitive young boys are.   I found the car, found the horn when looking around, and took it off.  Told grandpa and he said it is yours.   Six days later he died of a heart attack and I kept that horn in his memory.

Mounted it under the front panel and let that 6 volt horn get 12 volt shots.   That little fella does get some attention.

I simply got an extra Valkyrie horn from Pinwall and mounted it down on the crashbar similarly to the one that is already there.

It's loud enough for the limited times I may need it and I wired it right to the existing horn.

There's no worry about power draw since the horns will basically be unused, and then, when needed a short blast is all that's required.

I have the Fiamm Hi-way Blasters (hi and low)

Find a web site that has an audible link so you can hear most everything out there. It's easy once you hear them for yourself.

The stock horn on my '97 Std. was horrible.

I did the same thing the Ricky-D did.  I mounted another OEM "beeper" straight across from the original (still had a relay wired in from old set of Wolo air horns). I do have those OEM chromed plastic covers on both.  They look pretty good and they ARE LOUD!

Grabbed 2 sets of Buick horns from the local u-pull ( the more musical type) when I get the chance they'll be getting put on the crossmember for the kickstand.

the OEM I/S horns are much louder than the OEM std/tourer horns, thats why your set-up would work.

best bet for loud and cheap will always be the high and low note off a car. a bouple little fabricated brackets and mount them to the bolts that hold the mufflers on, up under the bike. works like a dream and loud like an oldsmobuick.

+1 on the Caravan horns. Used them on the field of battle with great success!

Mid 2000's Town Car or Grand Marquis horn set mounted in front of the swing arm. The stock V shaped bracket fits real well. Used a $5 Bosch relay under the RH cover.
Plenty loud, simple & clean.  cooldude

I haven't installed them yet, but I have a set of BigBF Quad horns. I understand they are very loud, and the kit just bolts on to the sidestand crossmsmber.

here are my horn locations. out in front for the cagers, wakes them up real good.  also have two boat horns installed under the swing arm, no pics of them though but a great combo with the caravan horns. both are painted with an epoxy spray can silver paint that matches the engine.

located behind radiator hose, the end of the trumpet is just showing

I have the low version on both of my Valks (very inexpensive and are a direct bolt-on).  They sound like a real horn.  An upgrade would be the high and low but needs a relay.
