Northern New Mexico

« on: August 26, 2011, 11:04:48 AM »

Had a great trip out to visit with the grandkids in Vegas, then hook up with my son Nick in Mammoth Lakes, take a tour through Yosemite again to ultimately get to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. We used my sisters place in Mammoth Lakes again as home base.

Nick had to go back to work after the CA portion of the trip.  Angry

Making my way back to New Mexico from Mammoth Lakes I took the scenic route hitting Idaho, Montana (briefly), and Wyoming in order to go through Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks (I felt obligated since I got the annual pass).

Great weather and great scenery. I took over 850 pics.

13 days and just over 3k miles round trip. Minimal rain drops. T-shirt riding weather for the majority of the trip. Never donned any raingear, jacket never came out of its storage pouch.

Happy Friday!

Nick showing he's got a pair.  cooldude I couldn't locate mine, I jumped.  Undecided

Yellowstone NP

I really enjoyed the landscape/rock formations heading to and fro...

I took Yellowstone over a two day period, staying in Cody one night, passing back through to catch missed sections and then heading down through Grand Teton NP overnighting it in Jackson Hole.

I could not seem to get enough of the Grand Tetons. What a great trip, hope you enjoy the pics.

If you haven't done Yellowstone and Grand Teton, add it to your list. I did not get to do Beartooth or Chief Joseph highways, will have to save that for another trip in order to catch Devils Tower.  Sad

Thanks again for all that made suggestions for places to hit. Just beautiful!  cooldude
