After two years I finally made it to my favorite park on a motorcycle.  Since I sold the Valk, I didn't have a bike that would be easy on me even for short trips. Finally the Vstrom with a new Seat, courtesy of Doug, Six2Go,  and I put on 115 miles today without my bod bitchin' too much.

A small step indeed but for me, it was a heckuva nice riding day and I felt very good when i got home.  I think I'll keep the 'Strom.  Here's a pic of the seat, not a Ultimate, but a Sargent.

I'll never be a member of the Far Riders but this works for me.

That Sargent looks good and I have read a lot of good about the seat on the Strom.  Took mine over to Florida to visit the Bear and Jill and really like the Strom (Wee).  Even the Wee had lots of power for a little 650 - the 1000 must be awesome!

One thing I did notice is that I didn't get the shimmies near as bad in the displaced wind behind semis as I do on the Valk with the larger aftermarket windscreen.

Oh, Mr Wayne, I don't know if the buffeting is a problem on yours, but it was bad on the Wee and the Cee Baily windscreen really knocked it out.  I wish it would have been a couple of inches shorter to allow more wind - it was really HOT on the ride, but it sure knocked out the buffeting I was getting.

Glad you got some nice wind!!!!!

Ride on!

With the heat, the sheepskin helped, but think I am going to look at the Sargent as well.  I was amazed at how well the Vstroms tour.

Warren I gave up the fight to find a good windshield. I lowered the stock windshield as much as possible and used some flat washers to give it more rake.

Now I'm riding in 'clean' air, no buffeting, helmet cooling works, and just enough protection below the shoulders.  The 'Strom is stable up to 90 mph plus.  I found that out today.  Buffeting from trucks don't bother it.

Good for you Wayne! cooldude

And good for all of us as well. I am sure that I can speak for many of us "youngsters" (compared to you) when I say that you are an inspiration to most, if not all of us.

Don't stop doing what gives you pleasure. Smiley

I really like the looks of the Strom. Was looking on Craigslist (Central Florida) today and saw some late models that seem to be a bargain. Most were 650's but there were a couple 1000's. I think I would really enjoy a V-Strom (Of course I'd keep the Valk  Roll Eyes)
