Pretty cool.  The crowd was big.  They had a posted speed limit of 35 mph but we ran about 60 for a lot of it.  Even the chaperone bikes were pretty cool.  I had my '02 STD grinding the pegs off in the tighter corners a few times.  Some of the sport bike guys commented about how good the Fat Lady ran them corners.  Then about crapped when I pointed out the car tire under her.

All in all it was pretty cool.  I'd sure like to have that track to myself for a couple hours though. Evil

I was riding to work this morning and was wondering about the GP. I was hoping to make it downtown for the party. Guess I wont now.

How'd you get to run the track?

That would be soooo cooool!! How'd you get on the track?? I've had a couple chances to go, the last few years, but never have. Probably should, next time!

This was my wife's turn at a run across the bricks:

The GP riders are sure cryin' about the new asphalt with most claiming its unsafe at full lean and speed.I've been on Bristol Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway on my bike and pushed well over 100 at both in the straight's....It was a RUSH that I will never forget .....I also rode around Indy in the short bus at the last Covered Bridge Ride we got up to about 25 on that lap  Shocked

The course is the old car race, Grand Prix, that cuts thru the raceway. Cars drive on it daily. They only use some of the oval. When I worked the track 2 yrs ago for the Moto GP, I was surprised how bumpy the road was. Cant believe they would complain about the new asphault.

A friend called and said he had tickets and wanted to know if I wanted to go.

Uh... yeah.  Lived in Indy for 30 years and never got a chance to drive on the track before.

The track was SMOOTH.  and I'd have been able to open her up if there were not 200 others on it at the same time.  60 MPH or so... with some solid peg dragging in the tighter turns.  Pretty cool.
