After breakfast with the buds this morning, went by our local dealer to hang out awhile and visit with the employees, and just generally give them something to do since business is so slow. On my way out through service stopped for a chat with the service mgr, took a look thru the glass into the shop and there is an IS on a lift with the rear wheel off. I asked who's it was, so the mgr is looking up the name and comments that it was brought in for a rear tire......BUT, he is trying to get him on the phone to discuss some other needs, and he goes into some more detail. As I have only seen pictures, and not the real life up close and personal look-see, I asked to go take a look. Well, like the subject says, "worse I have seen". And they haven't even pulled the pumpkin to look at the pinion and drive shaft yet (thanks Daniel for that knowledge).
Well, here are the pics:

I believe this will get into the pocket-book, he may have to apply for some stimulus $.
Note to self, grease is cheaper.

The dealer was going to 'discuss some other needs' with the owner? I wonder what they they thought is more important than those pics ? Or, if they were going to look at the drive line.. That bike had to be noisy and I can't imagine not being able to 'feel' those splines..

I wonder if the same stealer had been the one servicing it before?  If so, HE should have to pay for the damages.

Aw hell, clean it up and grease it up and it will be good for thousands of miles more.

When the bike owner get the word, he'll prolly crap his pants!

Maybe the bike owner rides only a couple of times a year so this rear could last for years more.

Sadly, there are riders out there that truly have no clue on what it takes to properly maintain a motorcycle or recognize a developing problem and that is the result in those pictures.

Ken T.--  The bike may still be in the shop awaiting parts and the repair work--any chance of getting this website to the owner--for future references??
