It will reply to you on the first notify after you have read the group.

If you make a post or select notify from within the group you will get a notification when the first person replies.

If you do not go back into that group it will not reset the notification until you do.

Even if 20 people reply, you will only get the 1 notification that happens after you last read the group.  If you read the group after each reply then it will reset and you will get 20 notifications.

Hope that clears it up.

on the old board i didn't get them (though i had it checked). Sometimes on my Rune board, they "break" for a while...then get "fixed" later. they have always worked here...on the new board...for me, so far!

but.....another possiblity...is if you have the emails notifications sent to any email provider who has SPAM filters and such on them. THEY COULD....get filtered out by mistake? Many times when i don't get emails like that here at work, i wonder if it isn't all the filtering they do here.......

Just a possibility???

Lots of folks are having this problem.  I think for the most part, those emails are getting caught in spam filters.  At least that is what happened each time I've tested it.

On top of not getting reply notifications, new members are not getting their registration activation emails as well.

I'll keep testing and see what I come up with.

I would like to point out, that for some people, they never see what their ISP filters out as spam if they are using an email client.  For example, if you use Outlook, Incredimail, or Thunderbird to access your email....the spam folder is actually on the server.  You would have to log into your email via the web to see whats there in the spam folder.

I just got a notification via email of the reply to myself, from our test account (Sam).  So I know they are being sent out....at least some of them are anyway!

I'm on the hunt.

Britman, how do you check your mail? Web? Mail Client? (Probably web, since you use hotmail)

that's what i think is happening too Scott. It happens all the time here on the base. i NEVER know what GOOD emails the base SPAM filters have taken out. But, as the IP manager for the US Air Force, i get calls DAILY ...from irate folks....both government and commercial...folks claiming our email SPAM filters are taking out all of their emails from their domains, other domain problems, etc. So even though i don't personally have control over it...i know the SPAM filters and domain issues are a real problem with the government networks. I'm betting some other commercial interests are doing similar things to their email servers and domains...and many customers don't even realize it!

i also get some calls from folks that emailed me .....folks on this board...and said they got a rejection notice from our server that THEIR email was SPAM. even though of course, it wasn't!

Bottom line, there's no telling what all servers, firewalls, etc....that are out there that are MISCONFIGURED or tightened down unneccessarily????

Just figured out today that anyone with a yahoo related account will probably not get any email from the board.  Yahoo is blocking our server IP.  That includes sbcglobal, yahoo.com, aol.com.....and anyone else related to yahoo.

We're trying to get off that blocklist, but I don't have a good feeling....

If you have an alternate means of getting email besides yahoo or aol etc....you might want to use it for this message board.  Assuming of course you want to get notifications.

I personally recommend Gmail.  If you give it a try you will never turn back.

that's exactly the kind of calls i field every week for the Air Force. Folks FROM places like the ones you mention, complaining that the military has this domain blocked, or that domain, etc. that's why i know a LOT of that goes on ....behind the scenes. In many cases, like Scott said, you can't get them to change or take you off the blocked list...if you have too many problems associated with it! in fact, on the Rune board, i had gmail blocked (the very one Scott uses)...as half of my SPAM was coming from there. but after a few new prospective members complained they couldn't sign up...and i looked into it, i finally realized they couldn't sign up because i had put a blanket filter on ALL gmail email users. realizing the error of my ways, i lifted that filter....but now have more gmail SPAM to deal with again. But it's less than the old days.........

anyway.....i think alot of the problems folks are having on this board on stuff like this...is filters. Personally, i can't see ANY of the photos posted here on photostash (or you tube, etc.)....cause that too is filtered/blocked here on the base. I can see the photos posted by Far Riders on their site...and photos posted on my Rune board....as these photos don't have the word "photo" in them. Any URL that has "photo" in it, gets blocked here! sucks to be me some times........
