for a 98 Kawa zx6r. Other years will work, I think up to a 04-05? I've tried ebay, and several salvage yards. Thought someone might think to ask around and find one at their local shop, or neighbor. My son's budget is very limited so we are checking all resources.

rebuilt it and still low compression. It had been used as a drag bike, has titanium valves which can't be shaved. So, either a $1000. head job or a used motor for about the same. Just hoping to find one sitting around in a garage waiting for a new home.

Has 4 mm valves. Regular valves are 5 mm.

Stormrider, had some time on my hands and found several engines from the mid 90s to '06 and one head.  Here are the links.

Just have the seats cut and lap the valves in.  I know you are not supposed to lap the valves but it works fine.  Unless the valves are tost.   Valve seats, new valve guides and seals, valves should not be that bad? If the crank is good and you have new pistons and the cylineders are good, $1000 on the head is better than $500 gamble on an engine you know nothing about.  Just my 2 cents, trying to help.
