September 10, 2011, I'll be at the Red River County Stew Cookoff.

click for info

Cost-Stew $5 for adults and $3 youth gets you a bowl and you can sample as much stew as you can hold. There's also an auction, which is usually interesting, and live music. All proceeds go to the Red River County fair, which is free to the public (last free county fair in Texas!)

Last year we had some 25 entries, and trust me, that's a LOT of stew! (and they were GOOD)...

They start serving at 5pm, but you can come early to preview the auction or chat with the cooks.

Last year Serk came up to lend a hand, but even the two of us together barely made a dent. This is a fun and tasty event. Dude's like 7 foot tall...you'd think he could hold more stew!

Serk! You gonna make it this year? I can't imagine the wee-three could eat very much but being your offspring they probably could!

Dude... I'm sitting here salivating just THINKING about that stew!!! I'm gonna put in a request with the spousal unit and see if I can get a day pass to head out there again, that stuff was EXCELLENT!
And with the triplets, I _NEED_ a ride right now! Took my first ride in over a month yesterday, the 5 minutes to and from my parent's house, but even that was such a relief to take...

Way back when I bought my Valkyrie, after I'd been riding it to work for a few months one day a guy comes up to me and says...

"Dude! I didn't realize just how big your motorcycle was until I got a good look at it without you on it!!!"

That's also my standard reply to the ole "Get a real bike! Get a Harley!" line... "When Harley makes something big enough for me, I'll consider one...)

Oookay...weather is looking great for the stew cookoff! Cool in the morning for the ride up, highs below 90. Should be a great day!
