I have had my '97 Tourer for about 18 months and NOTHING has ever leaked or dripped from it.  2 days ago I rode it to work (car needs some service) and someone noted it dripping.  There was a stain about the size of a nickel and I got down and could see fumes coming from the end of the vent line (by kickstand) and the occasional drip of gas.   Sad

I had just filled the tank before the 12 mile ride to work and held it upright to get the last few drops in and thought some gas probably sloshed in the vent hole at the cap.

Today the same thing except now I have about 50 miles on that tank of gas.  A litle area smaller than quarter and occasional drip of gas.  So it is 110* here right now and was the same 2 days ago.  I have bike covered with a thin nylon cover.

So my question is when then tank heats up in the hot weather and the pressure from fumes in tank rises, will these fumes condense in the vent tube to form the little drops I am seeing?  I will keep an eye open, but I have not seen any such drips on the garage floor.

Any other suggestions?

The gas will expand when it is hot.

When there is no more room it will spill out the vent.

Same when you have ridden a while only this time the little trickle of gas that's still in the tube will be expelled the same way for the same reason.

Don't fill it up so full, it isn't necessary and that is just a lot of extra weight to have to muscle around.

That's what the vent is for. It vents things! Smiley (Sorry about that, I just could not resist!)
