My buddy Eddie who just bought the 99 Valk gave me the Corbin gunfighter that came with the bike along with a pair of the Kury iso grips with throttle boss. This was in exchange for helping him out with looking over the bike and doing some stuff to tailor it for him (adjusting the highway pegs, swapping out the 8" aftermarket risers and ISO grips for the stockers and properly routing the throttle cables back to the OEM position). He likes the stock seats so he's keeping them. I haven't tried the grips yet but here's a pic of the seat: And while I'm at it, here's a pic of the drag bars before I installed the new throttle cables and properly (if only temporarily) fastened the rest in place till the new brake and clutch lines arrive: I'm also going to order IS carb springs and a set of Gary's bushings for him as thanks for the seat and grips.

Boxer rebellion, the Holy Child. They all pay their rent. But none together can testify to the rhythm of a road well bent. Saddles and zip codes, passports and gates, the Jones' keep. In August the water is trickling, in April it's furious deep.

The gauges are fine but the neutral/high beam/directional annunciator lights are partially obscured by the crossbar. Well worth it though for the comfort afforded by the riding position. And another side benefit (that may all be in my head) is that I'd swear it's a lot less turbulent at highway speeds with that crossbar splitting air in front of me. The effect seems to be more pronounced than should be possible from a 1 1/4 tube there though.

airflow all changed plus you are sitting with your head lower I'm not sure about the sitting lower (I had a Corbin on there before) but the airflow has definitely changed and it's not in my head as confirmed by Eddie when he rode it. Normally I might dismissed it out of hand but working in aviation I know that even small things introduced in the airstream can have a dramatic effect. The Gunfighter is much narrower betwixt the legs though than the Corbin pilot seat I had on before. I was worried that this would mean less comfort but it actually pinches less. I like it. The new owner and his ride... Yours truly...

What kind of bars are those? I am a big fan of the straight bars for comfort and control.

They're these... http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?model_id=12&Category_ID=10&manufacturer_ID=549&product_ID=28234&sblid_name=Biker_s_Choice_Custom_Fat_Pullback_Bar_for_Honda_____inch_Rise__Pullback_for_Honda_1500_Valkyrie_Standard...and I LOVE them. Very comfy with a more natural wrist break angle and they give the bike a more aggressive feel. Just be forewarned; if you really want to do the installation right you're going to need new custom cables and lines so you'll be into it for about 500 bucks when all is said and done. Functionally you don't really HAVE to do that though. But it's gonna look one hell of a lot cleaner with the new proper length lines on there and with the electrical wires going through the bars. Just gotta get the lines in (ordered, should be here in a day or two) and then the time to finish it. If you do decide to change them and go all out then let me know and I can give you all of the info (manufacturers and lengths) you need to order lines and cables.

Good looking bike Anvil.
Thanks. Eddie and I were both talking about how we just like to stand back and admire them. You feel kinda goofy doing it but they're just so pretty. Oh, and we went to Hooters after we rode into East Boston (on business, nobody goes to East Boston to enjoy the sights unless crack-whores are your bag) and our waitress comes over and the following exchange occurs: Her: "Are those your bikes outside? (no, we wear leather jackets and helmets in our car on 80 degree days) Us: "Yeah." Her: "Are they Harleys? (totally expecting that) Eddie: "No, they're Honda Valkyries." Her: "Oh Hondas, those are so cute!" Eddie and I look at each other like WTF? Cute??? 800lbs, 100HP/100ft.lbs and six cylinders is "cute"? Kids these days...

As sad as it is, this is still the image that non riding population has about Hondas Personally I fail to see anything "cute" in mine. Especially with me on.

I don't think she meant it as an insult, it was just an odd choice of words.
Of course she's a Hooters waitress, not a MENSA chapter president.
