A 99 Interstate with less than 15K. Husband of the now owner passed away 3 years ago and she sat in a garage un-attended all this time. Cleaned up the battery connections and started right up. Needs a thorough cleaning and carb cleaning. Black, the fastest color with no CB radio and no foglights. Bone stock except some add on chrome pieces. Tell me your honest appraisel ASAP. Being a fellow PGR member she will give me first option on her. Thanks, buffalobill

There is a brand new Dunlop E3 on the Front, but I would go Darkside on her ASAP, like my 98 Tourer. The front tire was just installed to move it from storage to Temp housing Not Disgusting, just dusty and the CHEAP Cobra floorboards rusted bad. The other chrome just needs polishing. I would still put an Avon on the front anyhow

$7500 less the estimated cost of tank/carb clean up (whether you do it yourself or not) and less the cost of new tires.

Paid $6200 for a 1999 IS with 19000 miles last fall. Some additional chrome and leather goodies. Tires we fine. I did have to go thru the carbs and replace the air cleaner. Needed a good cleanup and polish.
Runs and drives like a new one, has a few scrathes and skin marks, no dents or dings.
That said $6500 if in good cosmetic shape $7000 if in excellent cosmetic condition.
I do feel like I got a great deal at $6200.

Being a fellow PGR member, I would hope you would help the widow out by getting the bike up to par and get the best possible price for her. But that's just me thinking out loud.........

Well, when I first moved to Indiana, from So. Cal., I went to an auction at a farm. There was a box, of miscellaneous junk, that went for around $75! I didn't get to see everything that was in the box, so figured there must be a good tool or two, or something similar, in the box. A little bit later, the same box came back under the gavel, and fetched $50 or so. I figured whoever had paid $75 took out what they had bought the box for, and put it up again. Still, must have had some goodies in there. Until it came up under the gun, again, and got $25, and $10, the fourth and final time. The guy next to me, after a good few minutes of no action, and the auctioneer asking for a buck, yelled out the $10, and took it. I asked him "what was that all about??". He told me the farmer had died, without life insurance, and leaving his wife precious little, after all the final Dr. and funeral expenses. And no way in hell, was she going to take a handout! Then he walked away, leaving the box, along with all the other boxes that were laying around... Taught me a lesson! Some people see other people suffering, and ask how they can help. Other's see someone suffering, and ask how they can profit. I paid $6200 for my standard, with nothing but a set of 4050's, customizing it, and 9,000 miles. Not once have I regretted it. There are some here that would say I got "took". I do see a lot of people, criticizing others for spending $8000 for an Interstate, but then, I see Interstates go for $8000 and up, every week. I like Al's statement: Being a fellow PGR member, I would hope you would help the widow out by getting the bike up to par and get the best possible price for her. But that's just me thinking out loud......... That's just me, too. I ain't goin' to heaven, so might as well enjoy my time here... R

a lot of ads ask $8000-11,000 for these bikes. they don't sell at that price, but they can ask. many of us are unrealistic in how we value our bikes, we'd like to think of them as an investment, they are not. you see standards with 50,000 miles selling for 3-3500, this is more realistic and in the future they will sell for 2500. the time will come when they start to rise in value again but that's probably long after we stop riding. emotion and accessories have no value in the resale market.

Haven't seen a standard for 3k, maybe on the coast where they are all rusty but not here! I would buy a couple of standards for 3k if close to my area.
