Ok I work 12 hr night shifts and when I made it home this morning I couldnt sleep so I turn on the tube and cracked a beer. The first show I run into on PBS was nova and they were talking about the evolution of man, funny thing is they claimed that man kind evolved quicker during time of climate change, makes sense things get tough and only the strongest/smartest survive. so that got me thinking Al Gore really wants to stop us from evolving into a better smarter/stronger species. Maybe he realises when all of the chaff gets blown off then maybe people will start thinking for themselves and will have no need of game show hosts in 15,000 dollar suits to tell us how to live our lives. Or maybe he realises that all of the welfare blood suckers will be the first to go and the Dem party will lose a large chunk of their voting block. HMMMMM the things that PBS and Budweiser are doing to expand my mind. LOL uglystupid2

I like how you think.

But the Evolution of Global Warming is kicking in.

Now it is just Climate Change, cause they found out it's getting colder instead of hotter over the past ten years.

But we are affecting it, and hell we just can't start controlling the weather.

Now tell me why us controlling the weather is a bad thing?

30-something years ago, you'd see  a yellowish-grey haze over most of the picture if it were on the West Coast, or a darkish gray haze if it were on the East Coast.  I believe it was call SMOG (smoke and fog).  We don't see that anylonger.  We've made it better, just in our life time.  Guess that's why they had to falsify all those trials and records to plead Gore's case.  And there ARE more polar bears now, AL!

The reason why it's not called "global warming" anymore is because some regions are become cooler and some are becoming warmer, but on average the global temperature is still rising.

The debate is not whether climate change is happening (it is) but whether it's a natural or man-made phenomenon. Could it be man-made? Absolutely. There's enough science to support the theory that what we do has an impact. It also remains to be seen how long this cycle will last. But there's also overwhelming science to support the theory that it's just another of a long line of global climate shifts, most occurring before man could have ever had an environmental impact.

And maybe it's a combination of both. But you know what? We have made a considerable positive impact on our environment since we started to wake up. Of course the other side of the coin is industry and politicians in their pocket telling us that everything was fine all along. Whether we're causing climate change or not is beside the greater point and that is that we are a wasteful, polluting society and that needs to stop. Make no mistake; if we let corporations do what they want to this whole country will look like Zlatna Romania and all of China. They did not get their crap together because they woke up and became environmentally conscious. Like it or not, you have the EPA to thank for breathable air and drinkable water.

I once has a coworker (nice young kid from western PA) tell me that he didn't recycle because it was a liberal concept and I fear that this is the attitude of many other "conservatives". I think Al Gore sucks, but dismissing his message out of hand because he's a hypocrite or a Democrat is not necessarily wise. Waste in any form is NOT a conservative value.

I guess I'll have to include myself among those whose grey matter is inferior to that of the amoebae.  It seems to me that determination of the direction is highly influenced by whether we are looking at long term or short term, and even then by how long or how short.

Be that as it may, the real discussion among well informed scientists is not global warming or global cooling, but whether and how much human generated pollution has to do with the changes.

The earth has been warming for 100,000 years.

Ever heard of the mini ice age.

Washigton had them row across the Potomac to win a battle, there were ice chunks floating in that river, Napoleon experienced it in his time as well.

It got cold for no good reason.

There have been some warm periods no doubt.

There have been some cool downs, like when Krakatoa Volcano blew, it snowed in New England in July.

They thought the world was ending.

The only reason human population has risen is because of the great warm up.

Guess what will happen when the salenity level in the oceans  fall and the earth will cool again.

I think it is called the Halleen Current or something like that.

That warms England and the far north, without it England would be very diferent place and Europe.

Wow what a catastophe.

If you live in Texas you would like some of that coldness right now.

The earth is not going to end , it is the people who might become extinct.

But 99% of all species that have existed on this planet are right now extinct.

I just don't see the need to push this

We do a pretty good job of that ourselves, wars, violence , and abortion.

Eh, I think the earth could do with a billion or two fewer of us. With all we do with wars and violence we've more than offset that with the curing/prevention of disease and medical technology focused on prolonging life well beyond where we probably should.

Not at all. That there is the reason WHY there's too many of us; we love our life and cling to it even when we probably should not. But it doesn't change what it is.

Perhaps this may explain what's happening with our climate change to some degree...even Mars is heating up according to scientists and we're not polluting there are we?......

September 2, 2011 – What has happened to the Sun? The solar winds have fallen to a low speed: 280.3 km/sec with a proton density event of 0.9 protons/cm3. The average solar wind speed is about 400 km per second. The diminishing solar activity, despite a plethora of sunspots painted across the surface of the Sun, led Space Weather to declare: “The solar disk is peppered with sunspot groups, at least eight of them. None of them, however, is producing strong flares. Solar activity remains generally low.” The last time the solar wind speed was this low was in 2008 when the solar wind velocity fell to 290.0 km with a proton density of 3.3 protons/cm3 but today’s reading is even lower than 2008. See 2008 solar wind reading:
The dismal output of solar activity in 2008 led NASA scientists to conclude: “A wind of charged particles that stream constantly from the sun is at its lowest level ever recorded in the 50 years since spacecraft have made the measurement possible. The Ulysses spacecraft observed the weak solar winds, the constant, high-speed stream of particles that races from the sun, during a quiet period in the sun’s activity. The solar weather cycle affects Earth and other planets in the solar system. “We know that the sun has been this cool before, this inactive before,” said Nancy Crooker, a physicist at Boston University in Boston, Mass., during a NASA teleconference on Tuesday. “But that was prior to the Space Age, so we didn’t have actual physical measurements until now.” The solar wind’s charged particles blow out from the sun at a blistering 1 million mph, sweeping away background radiation and colliding with incoming galactic cosmic rays from distant stars. It effectively encloses our solar system in a protective bubble called the heliosphere.” –Space.com -September 23, 2008
More Cosmic Rays hitting Earth: “The solar wind isn’t inflating the heliosphere as much as it used to,” says McComas. “That means less shielding against cosmic rays.” In addition to weakened solar wind, “Ulysses also finds that the sun’s underlying magnetic field has weakened by more than 30% since the mid-1990s,” says Posner. “This reduces natural shielding even more.” -NASA  -September 23, 2008

The flux rate in the Heliosphere and the evidence to support that is fairly easily explained.

My Dermotologist has told me more than once that the Melanoma rate of skin cancer has qaud-drupled.

The hellioshere is or may be the culprit.

He did also mention that Magnetic Wave Levels are partly to blame.

But he mentioned the Earth's magnetic field not the Sun's exclusively.

So the Sun does and will fluctuate it's intensity.

That would explain gobal weather phenomena in a new light.

Many scientists have used this theory in relation to global weather changing events , but are always Poo-Pooed when they do it.

The Mayans had a better way , they simply killed or offered up for sacrifice those that did not believe thier theory of a human sacrifice

bringing back the Sun everyday.

that's the nails head right there. IF! there are too many ifs. those that propose change are mostly pointing to CO2 as the primary culprit. it's a trace element in our atmosphere. lay the elements of our atmosphere out like a footbball field, CO2 is about half the width of the end zone stripe.  it used to represent about 1.5 inches of 100 yards.

Proof Smoof.

Just like evolution theorists, they could not fill one casket with the so called line of monkeys we came from.

They have pieces of a tooth and small fragments of skull and jaw bone and I think Dr. Leakey found a partial thigh bone.

Not enough evidence to even hold a trial on the issue.

Just like global warming, the evidence can be slanted either way,

If we guess wrong we have wasted a fortune, why the rush.

It will be a hundred years until we know enough to act responsibly,, if at all.

I am on the if at all band wagon.

Waste in any form is NOT a conservative value.

that's the nails head right there. IF! there are too many ifs. those that propose change are mostly pointing to CO2 as the primary culprit. it's a trace element in our atmosphere. lay the elements of our atmosphere out like a footbball field, CO2 is about half the width of the end zone stripe.  it used to represent about 1.5 inches of 100 yards.

I think CO2 is the least of our worries. I'm talking more about stuff like THM in aquifers, depleting aquifers in the midwest, human waste, where the f**k we're gonna put all of the tons of CRAP we discard every day and where we're gonna get energy when China starts buying it all up because they're cool with running on fossil fuels until they run out. That's the stuff that keeps me up at night.
