When I was in the mountains around 3000' I noticed it is hard to start, especially in the mornings when cold and also when hot. She was also running sick with a noticeable loss of power. When I get home she runs fine. Is this bc on a higher elevation. Do you think I need to rejet or something? I have cobra pipes and don't know if it's been rejeted. The plugs are a nice tan color. Thanks

If you are using the choke properly and it is still hard to start, I would venture the problem could be caused by the exhaust system. Remember the choke must be fully on and no throttle input on start up. Hoser

If you are using the choke properly
and assuming it's working properly...

If it ran good before you went up into the mountains, bad up there, and good now that you.re home, id figure elevation, or crap gas. Wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again.

3000 ft isn't all that high, I would look for something else. Has it had problems elsewhere? Hoser

Baterry is 2 weeks old and strong. I turns over fast just slow to crank. At home in this heat I very seldom use the choke, but had to in the mountains. I believe YoungPUP is right- it must of been bad gas or the elevation bc she's fine at home! Thanks guys.

I am wondering two things: Reason for new battery.........was it just old or maybe alternator problems? Also, (I made this boo boo before) Not charging a new battery properly can make it perform like an old battery. Turning over fast but not firing is a classic sign of a weak battery on a Valk

Really common for those of us that didn't need it much to not put it on all the way. Push it till it gets hard to move, then push it some more (another 1/4" or so).

Lights were dim when switch was on and when I jumped it she fired right up. Yes the battery was old.

Thanks Daniel, the weird part is I don't have to choke it at home when it's hot weather!! Thanks
