I finished off my Toyo T1R and replaced it with a General Altimax.  Well, I suppose the Toyo was finished off a while back...  I must say, even though I didn't have any complaints with the Toyo, I already like the General better.  The shoulders are more rounded and it's obvious when riding it.  These is much less pressure needed to begin a turn than with the Toyo.  I didn't really feel like there was much needed for the Toyo - but with the General it's definitely less!  For me, the General feels much more like a motorcycle tire.  Early returns are all positive!
The Toyo had 18k on it.

Assuming the old tire was the same outside diameter (when new),
well look at the difference in OD between old and new tire.

That would explain why my bike feels like it's sitting low, now
that my CT is close to the wear bars.

Time for a new CT.

May be my sight, the old tire looks as if it needed some serious wheel balancing. ???

As with a car, brand new tires would make it feel smooth and wonderful. But if the balancing is off, the pleasure is short lived.

I am not picky on tires and other such stuff as I used to be. I love my inexpensive c/t; not just because the low price,
but for it looks and great performance on the open road. As ya'll know, It does require that you RIDE the bike, not just seat on it...

Mind you, most of my very-little-riding is over decent roads and mild twisters...
However, if the twists get really tight and fun, by the time I get home I feel like I took a beating from a vicious motorcycle gang.  Cry Roll Eyes

It's always difficult to compare two different types of tire when one is worn out and the other is brand new.  The new tire is almost always going to feel better.  From what I can tell by looking at mine, the Altimax has rounded shoulders because the tread thins out towards the shoulder.  As the tire wears evenly across the tread that usually contact the pavement (i.e. when riding a straight line), the shoulder will probably look more and more square, eventually looking like your previous tire.  That being said, I think the Altimax has a rounder shoulder than most car tires, when new.

Paxton - Not sure what you're seeing that suggests the old tire was out of balance.  Pretty sure it wasn't.  Willing to learn if I'm missing something.
Also - the old tire was a 205/55/16 and the new General is a 205/60/16.  So there is quite a difference in diameter.
thanks - Al
