OK, so now it idles. But it's jumping between 2000rpm and 800rpm. also, at low rpms, it seems to be skipping. High speed, high rpms and she runs like a well oiled sewing machine.

Should I continue to run the Seafoam through her or could the problem be elsewhere? I thought about pulling the plugs but I don't know if they could cause this or not. The PO let her sit up for 2 years, this is what caused these problems.

You might try changing to a different additive after using the Seafoam. Techron, Regain and B-12 also are well regarded on this forum.

The idling problem you are having could be indicative of a need for a carburetor synchronization.

How the motor runs at other than idle points to a crudded up idle circuit which ought to be helped by strong doses of an additive, frequently used.

Try a double dose of Techron.

Hey Fritz The Cat. Let us all know where you live. You may have someone close by that can synch your carbs. Its not as hard as it sounds like.

I don't know how long you've had this problem. Running more Sea-Foam thru it isn't going to hurt it, especially if it seems to be getting better.. Opening the pilots 1/2 turn could help, then return them once its running correctly.. I wouldn't worry about the sync until its running better, generally, an engine out of sync just idles rough and may stumble a bit upon acceleration ..

I wouldn't even suggest for you to mess with the pilot screws.

The reason being that they are more than likely stuck pretty good and messing with them will offer no real help and you might end messing them up pretty badly. Especially if you do not have the correct socket to fit the screws.

Now, I know that giving them a turn will allow a little more gas to flow through the one orifice, but that is such an infinitesimal amount when you talk about the fractional turn of the screw.

I'd just pour a whole can of additive into the gas tank with a full load of gasoline. And do it many times!

Thanks all, I'm off to Wally World to get some Techron.

There's no hesitation at all so would that eliminate the petcock? Also, when I open the throttle, she runs strong and hard. No indication she's being starved for gas.

I'm in Rincon, Georgia (affectionately known by the locals as Stinkin Rincon)

Vacuum leaks can do this.
Have you checked all the hoses,blanking caps and intake clamps?.

Pulled my air box and found de-smog cap leaking badly. Filled with silicon,'let dry and my idle was cut in half down to about 500. Almost need to idle up a bit when it's cold but after warm up it's perfect !

My stealers parts man suggested I try Starbight's Startron.
The package says it cures "ethanol problems"  Since he never steared me wrong, I bought a bottle.
Three remarkabkle things happened to my Valk; 1st the terrible exhaust smell was eliminated;
2nd the throttle responce improved;
3rd the gas milage went up by 10 to 15 %.  Shocked
Usually when I pull the trailer I was getting 33 MPG, last time (with Startron) I got 38 MPG.
I tried the product in my car, the gas milage went up also to 10 to 15 % improvement from 22 highway to 27 highway MPG.
The product will do other positive things. I checked with the poarts man @ Auto Zone, he rates it the best for what it does.
If it does nothing more than increase my MPG, the product pays for itself.  cooldude

I'm interested to know how much you used to how much gas? Also how much did it cost?
Thanks for the tip, we're always interested in product reports.

The product comes in different sizes (depending upon what it is used in), my stealer has "shooters" for use in gas cans (for Mx's or RTV's) to the 8 oz. to make 48 gallon bottle,  (cost @ dealer $8).
Here in Milwaukee, Farm & Fleet has the 8oz to make 128 gallons, again $8. To dilute that to the Valk at fill up  you have to use only 2 and 1/4 teaspoons.  It is somewhat a pain to bring out the measuring spoons to add it to the tank, in the future I will come up with a quicker way to add to the fuel at fill up.
Anyway here's the url, http://mystarbrite.com/startron/
The usual discalimers apply, I'm just a happy user and thankfull I have a great parts man @ Sportland 2 in Oak Creek WI.

Considering it got rid of the nasty  Angry, nose burning  Sad, eye tearing rank ass stench coming from the exhaust is increadable, if that's all it did it is worth it IMHO.   cooldude
