I am sure someone will be by with a brilliant idea soon. All I can think of is to sand it off and then start buffing to restore the transparency and gloss. That's not a trivial effort!

My first take on paint remover is that anything strong enough to remove paint will melt plastic as well.

Oh, one thing you might try, just possibly. If the guy that painted them was careless, there might be wax under the paint. Wax remover might help. Maybe.

Made new ones out of polished stainless steel. Suffered a couple bird strikes that broke the plastic.  cooldude  Hoser

hoser's route looks good....if you decide to just replace the plastic, ask baker to tell you how much their seconds cost.....theres nothing wrong with them besides just a small blemish which you will pick-up the first time you ride with them on.  just a thought.

There was a vender that was selling stainless replacement wings.  They are expensive but are an option.  http://www.waynesworldcycle.com/wingcovers.html

Depends on the paint. Thinner will usually dissolve your garden variety spray enamels without ruining the plastic BUT if the paint is sticking to begin with then the plastic was probably scuffed up as paint will usually just flake off of smooth, clear plastics.

The PO might have roughed up the surfaces with sandpaper to help the paint stick better.

That's my guess too. Even most primers won't stick to clear plastics well unless you scuff em up.

Try a strong degreaser, worked for me to remove some touchup paint from a plastic fender. The touchup spray paint didn't bond to the plastic beneath.

Ohh, bright plate aluminum just came onto my radar! My clears are shot, two of them finished breaking last week from previous cracks.  Both on the right side, one held together with clear packing tape.. I bet I can fab some diamond plate 'luminum ones that'd be pretty darn sharp!

I have friend that has a bar break and laser cutter that fabbed them for me, I tryed to get him to get in the business, but he said he was too busy fabbing lowering kits for Harleys.  He mainly builds stuff for Harley riders.  Hoser
