As we discussed last evening there are many possibilities.

My agreement (was not my suggestion, but I like it) is Boudreaux's Cajun Kitchen.

http://www.boudreauxs.net/public/pag1.aspx

Good food, reasonable prices.  Open atmosphere, ALL air conditioned, quieter music.  Can move tables and chairs to accomodate group.  Centrally located.  On 610 loop feeder about Westpark.

I like:  Senior’s Discount – 25% All Day Wednesday

25% discount for senior meals ages 55 or older

Wife and I both love their Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad, but be forwarned, it is BIG.

Hey DFW people - note this is a new place for the Houston group.  We're staying at Joe's Crab Shack in Grapevine for our meetings.

Thanks!

LOL! I'm pretty sure we knew that....

sooo...you saying you don't want to move the DFW meeting to the 610 loop in Houston?  Cheesy

I'm thinkin me an Lemondrop saw the name of the place and thought that it sounded like a place to try out since there's one local.  (not suggesting a move).

When might we (DFW) consider a change? Flips, just a few doors west and closer for Victor, sure has good burgers! ~Jeff

OK, and as agreed, we'll try it next month.  Woodrow's will get a trial the next month.  I'm glad to see they have some generic stuff, in case some folks don't like Cajun (how can you not, though??)

That sounds like we'll have some DFW folks at our next meeting.  We'll save a spot at the table for ya'll.

Hey Jean,
Speaking of trying new places. Have you tried Garcia's since they opened in the original location? Evidently the Redneck Rooster didn't go over too well and they have gone back to mexican. We were going to check it out last night, but my girls(who are 8 & 10) gave me the "I don't want mexican" whine. I wasn't feeling very iron fisted so I let them win(not unusual).
Anyway, just wondering if you'd been there yet.

I, for one, will be glad when the DFW reconsiders the meeting place. IMHO Joe's is like riding a Harley.  One half of the quality for double the price.  I won't let that keep me from the meetings but I know at least one DFW VRCC'r who won't go there.  I know that everybody will never be pleased but our current meeting place is way down on my list. Just my $0.02 worth.

If Doc's post is considered the making of a motion, I second it.  Especially after the "fallout" I suffered after my last (and I do mean last) meal at Joe's Crap Shack.  The company is why I attend and if we are losing people because of the venue, let's at least consider changing or rotating it.  I'll meet anywhere and eat before or later, if I have to.  We're up to $0.04.  Do I hear $0.06?

my simple question about eating at a place was going to start this problem again.

All the older (membership not age) know where I stand on it... that's $0.06

Maybe someone should post a survey...

Joe's has the meeting room (we didn't have that at Pappas) and is in Grapevine, which has proven time and again as the best location to have a meeting.  Not one meeting at Pappas had as many attending as any of our meetings in Dallas.

It seems like we go through this same sequence every 6 months.

Jean, I know you had no idea that the embers were still hot on this fire.  Neither did I.

That all being said, this is a club where voters rule.  So if people want to move the meeting to a new location, I point to a past history full of failed attempts to move to different cities which proves that the best city for this group is Grapevine.  Second, the place you suggest must have a separate meeting room (no meeting room killed Pappas) where the tables can be moved into one or two long tables versus individual tables (the individual tables killed Fuddruckers). Last, no matter which place you pick, understand that not everyone will like your selection.  That's the nature of human opinion.

At the next meeting, bring up your ideas.  If you have others that agree with you that cannot attend the meeting, get them to send you an email where their vote for your proposal is in writing and bring a printout with you.  Start a topic on the forum.  It doesn't matter to me where the meeting is, as I will ride to wherever it is and enjoy the meetings due to the people.  The food is secondary.

Thanks

Mark
