A bad map and a long ride in Northern New Mexico!

It has been too hot for this old fat boy to ride, in fact it has been April since I last rode the bike.  I got it out Friday and got it inspected, dumped some seafoam in it and filled the old gal up.  I had initially decided to take a weekend trip , but I had too much to do around the house after a hot 3 months of not doing anything in the yard.  I tackled a fencing project...but thats another story.

Anyway, got out today and road a couple hundred miles, wow the highs were in the low 80's!!!!! I did have one little "huh", rounded a corner and twisted the throttle, pretty much nothing happened.  I grabbed more and it jumped out from under me nearly.

I kind of scratched my head (metaphorically), and we stopped to eat a late lunch.  As we were headed back site seeing, I noticed that it didn't seem to be responding as I eased into the throttle to compensate for some small hills.  When I grabbed the throttle by the handful, it roared up like a good Valk should.

Most of you are diagnosing something along the lines of bad gas / low speed jets sucked something into them etc.    But wait, there is more!!!!!

I happed to notice that my throttle hand was not in the same position as it normally is / in fact when I looked over my grip had slid down considerably.  The good old summer Texas heat had turned the glue loose on my Kuryakin grips!!!  Sure enough it would spin if I eased into it, but if you grabbed it hard, it would respond normally!

Will glue it back on tomorrow, and find another excuse to work on the bike next weekend!!  May have to make something up!!!
