I have five appointments in the next week.  Dentist appointment today , tomorrow  I will have my right eye treated to a green laser, Friday, a followup.  Next week, the left eye for the same.

Once that's done for borderline glaucoma, then sometime in the near future both eyes go through the cataract removal surgery.  Hopefully, after that, it'll be awhile until my knees need some help.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. I'll be setting up an appointment to have work done on the Vstrom, raising the height back to original, new tire on the rear, and maybe suspension adjustment unless I can get Mark to help me with that.

Sometimes I get the feeling that I'm just charging windmills.

Wayne, this just proves it....getting old isn't for sissies!  There are times when I think if it wasn't for us elders, half the Mecedes, Porsche, Lexus, etc., dealers would go out of business. The drs. would be stuck with buying six cylinder two-doors. Every year we get a print out from the drug store showing what we paid for so we can list it on the income tax. It's mostly my wife's stuff, but I have some in there myself and I'm shocked when I see how many pages they print out. I'm just thankful for good health insurance, costly as it is...it covers us like a good blanket, including our meds.

But, as the lady across the street always says...."I'm still on the sunny side of the flower patch."  I'm encouraged though, a few months ago I started lifting weights again after being away from it for nearly 25 years(and it shows). One thing I found out recently....I'm twice as strong as I was when I was 25.....and you all know the rest of that old joke.  Evil

...I am.

That's a busy medical schedule.

Cataract surgery isn't the big deal I was falsely prepared for myself this year and at only 52 years young. You've done well with later cataract development.

Anesthesia is generally just enough to keep you somewhat aware of sights & sounds. Sort of punch-drunk.

Apparently, I was enjoying the kaleidoscope visual effect of the surgery so much that I reached up to assist the surgeon.  Contact with the surgeon could have been catastrophic.  Roll Eyes

All I remember was hearing him yell. I thought he was yelling at me. But no, he was yelling at the anesthesiologist to knock me out 100% all the way. Mo better fo me anyway.  uglystupid2

Unfortunately, at my 3 month follow-up he tells me that I'm redeveloping the cataract on the artificial lens and I haven't even done the other eye yet.
It's getting hard to drive at night again and if it's raining ferget about it, dammit.

I presumed cataracts need living tissue, not so it seems.
Anyway, he said no big deal, he can eradicate with a laser when it gets worse.

All the best with your procedures.

Oh, and less then an hour out of recovery we were having breakfast at a restaurant!

Nervous clowning before surgery

I had cataract surgery in both eyes with lens implants in last couple of years - - piece of cake.  I didn't have any anesthesia except for drops in my eye.  I was totally aware of what the surgeon was doing during the surgery.  It only took about 7 minutes to remove my cloudy lens and insert/adjust the new implant.  My vision was significantly improved immediately.  My vision is not as perfect as it was as a youth but I don't need to wear glasses anymore.

My cataract surgery went slicker than  a wet noodle.

All I remember was getting drops in the eyes every few minutes.
Then wheeled into the operating room.

From then on to the end, all I remember was 'keep your eye on the light'
Tried to say I was looking at the light, but nothing came out.

Needed trifocals before surgery, only need reading glasses now.
I still wear my glasses outside as they are the changing ones, basically sun glasses.

Just took the eye test at DOT for my license renewal.
They put on I needed glasses while driving.

I asked what that is for.
The tester said you have to have contacts in to read that line or any line in there that fast.

I said, come over here on this side of the counter, look into my eye and tell me where the contact is.

He did, he said I don't see one, I asked then to have the glasses restriction removed.  He had to call the Supervisor over to verify no contacts.

What a pain in th ass that was.

The new license came in the mail today with no restrictions and a motor endorsement.   Yee Haw.........

Thanks to all.  Actually I'm more concerned with the glaucoma fix than the cataracts.

This is the first time that I was diagnosed with higher pressure than normal.  I know only that the laser way is supposedly the better way to treat glaucoma than meds.  There are two different ways to treat with laser. ALT and SLT  Both acronyms are short for big $$$$$ words.  One uses an argon laser at one millisecond like sorta a shotgun blast. The other uses a yag laser at 4 Nanoseconds.  The yag laser is selective and works only on the melatonin part of the honeycomb cells in the eyes but it's new, read $$$$$$$. I'm getting the ALT treatment.

Having a technical mind sometimes is not good.  It's too easy to use the internet and know just enough to be dangerous.
