My 98 std was idling rough and backfiring on decelleraton now and then.

I thought I was looking at a carb cleaning, syncing, plugs, etc. and was not looking forward to all that.

I used seafoam now and then and tried a can.  I only saw minor improvements.

Then I read about Techron, from this site or maybe somewhere else.

I ran a tank mixed extra-strong and noticed major improvement within 60 miles.  The idle was smoother (but not perfect) and the occasional backfire disappeared.

One month later I ran another tank with Techron.  Again, noticable improvement.  Now my idle is very smooth and I have notable stronger acceleration.

No need to tear down the carbs.

I'm not in any associated with the company, but I do highly recommend it.

Makes me love my valk even more.

The makers of Seafoam have dispatched a hit squad to your location.

trouthunterjohn-got very good results myself when using Techron. Cool Like it better than the Seafoam. And i am now prepared to get slammed really hard for my blasphemy. uglystupid2 Techron appears to work better for ME. 2funny My brother on the other hand swears by Seafoam. Every one here uses different stuff for different reasons. Grin Guessing thats why we have so much to choose from. Cool RIDE SAFE.

I have heard that Techron is a better "cleaner" but Seafoam is a better conditioner/stabilizer (it will also clean).  I think Techron is considered harsher or more aggressive than Seafoam.  YMMV

I use both of these and also add in some Lucas on occasion.  I figger that alternating between the 3 they're bound to get the gunk out eventually.  Cheesy

Me too, for the same reason.......... add in StarTron and marine grade Stabil for winter months with less riding.

I read all the comments on this site about Techron too, and it is not a stabilizer like Seafoam, but just a cleaner. However, it seems to get much praise as a BETTER cleaner than Seafoam...
I started using it and it has been excellent. I get it at Advance Auto Parts...they run BOGO on the 20 oz bottles quite regularily.

i hunt down chevron's and texico's for fillups when riding my valk or sabre.  they run so much better when i use there techron treated gas.  if i can't find one, i put in a dash of startron (thanks lyn-del and wizard) or lucas. (thanks cyclejohn

I have used Techron in the past in my Valk (which was totaled) I'm not sure it did much for it because I never had issues that I was aware of. I used it as a preventative measure.
My stealers parts man suggested I try Starbight's Startron.
The package says it cures "ethanol problems"  Since he never steared me wrong, I bought a bottle.
Three remarkabkle things happened to my Valk;
1st the terrible exhaust smell was eliminated;
2nd the throttle response improved;
3rd the gas milage went up by 10 to 15 %.  Smiley
The usual MPG was 35 MPG, now consistently above 38 MPG, 10% ethanol is all that is available around here.
Usually when I pull the trailer I was getting 33 MPG, last time (with Startron) I got 38 MPG.
I tried the product in my car, the gas milage went up also to 10 to 15 % improvement from 22 highway to 27 highway MPG. City driving went from 20 to 23 MPG.
The product will do other positive things. I checked with the parts man @ Auto Zone, he rates it the best for what it does.
If it does nothing more than increase my MPG, the product pays for itself, however it got rid of the nasty,  Angry , nose burning  Sad  ,eye tearing  Cry rank ass stench coming from the exhaust is increadable, if that's all it did it is worth it IMHO.    cooldude
