Greetings.
I currently have rivco driving lights on my Valk, and for those not familiar with them, the factory turn signals attach (I believe they are factory anyway) to the bottom of the driving lights. Here is a Pic as an example (Not my bike)

Here is a picture without any turn lamps mounted

My problem is that the P.O. had the bars mis-aligned and when turning lock to lock the signal lamps would hit the radiator and they are cracked.

I would like to replace these turn signals with something better than factory.  I just HATE the fact that these are chromed PLASTIC tickedoff They feel cheap, and they are cheap.

Does anyone make a replacement turn lamp (front) that is made of metal?  Something that is NOT chromed plastic that will bolt right up to the bottom of the Rivco Driving lights like the factory ones do?

Thanks,
Mike

Your saying they are a direct bolt on replacement?  the entire chrome housing?  From the pictures I can find on the net they do not look like they mount the same way.

Yep, that seems to be the problem.  The factory lights are designed to mount to "rubberish" pieces and have a slot in them and a place for a screw, unlike the aftermarket and harley which look like they use a threaded rod or bolt. Angry

You are correct that the stock Honda lights are chrome plated plastic, but most are 10 years old, the ones you see, and looking at them you will find they are in very good condition still after all those years of riding on the roads.

After the same years you will find the metal lights you are referring to will be pitted and corroded since they most likely are some kind of zinc die casting that do not weather very well at all.

The Honda light are very heavily chrome plated as in the general Honda fashion while most all the other light are either very lightly chrome plated or even plated to a lesser extent, flash plated which is the poorest type of plating.

You should reconsider your stance on the Honda lights and not be so quick to condemn. Sure, they're plastic but that is actually an advantage when you start hanging things so far away from the attaching point.  Heavy lights hanging in such a fashion will tend to cause stress at the attaching points leading to possible cracks in a lot of places and finally failure to some parts that are very expensive to replace.

You make some good points about the factory Honda lights.  However, I would still prefer quality metal over quality plastic.  I guess it is just me.  I was hoping to be able to find some more turn signals without having to source original Honda parts.... that's all.

I think his biggest complaint about them being plastic, is that they cracked,,, Sad

If your turn signals (plastic or not) hit the radiator, mounting a metal replacement lamp may end up doing damage to something other than the turn signal...cost of a radiator is far more than a turn signal.
