So last night, I am enjoying
my 20 mile ride home in the nice cool, crisp air at 9:30 pm temperature somewhere around 60ish, beats the heck out of two weeks ago at 10:30 pm with 98 degrees and sweating while riding in the Dark!
It's been a long day called for work at 6:30 am
and finishing up in an irritating, frustrating, situation at the end.
I need the ride and the ride is good,
thinking seriously about just keep on riding till I need fuel, hum I just filled up!
But work will be calling again early in the a.m.
so I guess I will go home. I round the curve on the highway with my exit next. I see a Trooper
blacked out in the median
, a Bronco in the ditch to my right, with a custom chopper parked next to it on the shoulder, right at the exit. Between the highway and the exit, at the exit entrance is another car stopped with it's brake lights on. Looks like a conversation going on between the car and the biker. ??? As I approach the car takes off down the exit. I stop by the biker.
I asked if everything was okay?
He asks " you familiar with this area?" Yeah, a bit lived here three years, in Kansas my whole life
. So he asks, "how many exits to Hutchinson on this Highway?" Three, I answer Wichita, Newton(here), and McPherson. he goes "okay, which one has a truck stop, with a Pizza Hut next door, and a motel next to that?". Um, none of them!
Seriously?
He says as he begins to pace. He then tells the guy in the Bronco I think we went to far north. I said your looking for an exit with a truck stop, pizza hut, and motel all together? Yeah you know one? Meeting someone there? "No man my truck and trailer is there!" Oh, okay let me think. Sure it was a Hutchinson exit, could it have been Hesston? There is a Casey's Truck Stop, Pizza Hut, and a motel together at that location. It's about 7 miles further north! "Really! Oh Man Thanks, seven miles lets go!" Ride Safe I say as he jumps on his bike and off they go.
I head for home laughing
the whole way thinking if your gonna trailer into some ride and park out of the way so people think you are riding in, shouldn't you remember where the exit is you left your trailer!! Made my whole night, I needed that laugh.
