I have a "Wide Open Custom Plastic" batwing fairing on my 98 Tourer.  When I got the bike it was installed and whoever installed the windshield overtightened the bolt in the center causing the windshield to fracture.  I'm trying to find a replacement for it.  The Wide Open website offers a replacement for $50 which is really reasonable but then they try to charge a $45 shipping fee...seems pretty steep for shipping a piece of plastic.

Anyone know of a replacement windshield at a reasonable price (including shipping)?  I have been told that the HD windshield will fit but they are well over $100.

Just figured I'd ask here to see if anyone has a suggestion.

Thanks,
SDS

I would recommend this one from Cee baily's...http://www.ceebaileys.com/harley/flhtssc_ws.html it's reduced in size but performs like an aerodynamic wall.  cooldude

Great shield - and it added a 30% fuel mileage increase as well as an extra 30 mph to my top end.  Evil

You might want to check out Fast Aire.

It's were I got mine.  It's also where Woody's gets his shields from.  Woody's is a site sponsor.

that is steep shipping but since it is a fragile piece I don't see it as excessive. I do see that as a price that should be avoided. Might try to find a dealer within riding distance that can sell it to you and let you put the new one on in the parking lot. Might as well carry the fractured one back home and keep it as a spare. :0

Thanks for the replies everyone.  There are a lot more choices than I knew about.  Dfragn, that windshield has my curiousity piqued.  30% mpg increase??  Thats pretty signifigant.  It's more money on the front end but for that kind of mileage difference it may be worth it.

Thanks again,
