I went on a local MC poker run/party saturday. I rode with one HD guy. He had a a road glide ultra 110, orange of course ! He wasn't sure of the route, I kinda noticed when I took off I wasn't leaving him. I wasn't really trying, but he was right their. I finally told him, other than orange I think I figured out why I like your bike, it's one of those 37K one's isn't it? Then we talked about it, he said he runs away from all his buddies, he's done a few other tweaks besides. I didn't realize that was 1800cc. I had been looking on HD build a bike the day before. I see it takes over 20K to get me a fat bob I might like. We both went to the party, typical I suppose, I guess I'm getting old, more a rider, a non smoker ,non drinker(migraine), I spent more time in bars and in smoke that day than I have the last 20 years combined. Of course I only knew 2 people. The founder of the club was a good friend, but was killed 8 years ago, this was his memorial run.by their bylaws, they only let HD in , he was almost killed on a Suzuki years ago and worked at Honda.

They has a sled pull,  a tractor pulling sled

so, how does a Valk do?

I saw another shaft bike but he didn't have 100hp at the shaft

wet clutch holds up, are Harleys dry?

the only hook spot I saw was on rear foot pegs

I figured, If all went right and I did do good they would cry foul for the car tire

I was real curious, but not enough to go get a trailer

If I'm not going to break anything, I'll be there next time, my biggest worry was getting traction and finding the next weakest link or maybe the wide tire floats to much, in that case I need a passenger.

I have never seen a 'build a bike' that looked good. Theres a guy in town that builds bikes from kits. It a custom , 'HD' they say, with the S&S motor. Wiring is all jacked up looking ugly. Ugly bolts out in the open, and never seen one run for more then a year. Better off buying a real bike and mod it yourself.

As for the 'non drinker (migraines)' thing, its called a hang over.  Wink

not the run, only the club. I suspect it is white only also. They took everybody's money and do have a toy run for kids.

Any comments on a Valkyrie in a sled pull?

Make sure you have an extra universal as that is probably the weak link.

Man, I'd go in there like Jesse Owens at the 1936 Olympics and show a bunch of Nazi acting HD supremacists what a Valk can do.  Damn the torpedeos, full steam ahead.

Seems to me that would be a really bad assumption.  ???  On what would you base that?

Universals are always the weak link in a drive system.  I just replaced mine at 52K and it was totally shot.

I've 164,000 + on my original U-joint.

I did replace the pinion gear and cup at about 96,000.

If you were not subjecting your U-Joint to tractor pulls and it fails anyhow, why do you think tractor pulls would kill one? Your joint was obviously victim to circumstances totally unrelated to short duration of load like a sled pull.

If I was going to pull a sled, I would attach to the trailer hitch.  The car tire might be an advantage in that situation but definitely not on the road.   Cheesy  YMMV  Wink

I was thinking the hitch would be bad(and unfair) buy pulling on the bolts or bending the frame.

No need to start on CT, ride what you want or try and out ride some of these guys.

You would never get enough traction to bend the frame even with 3 fat chicks and a car tire on the back while chained to a tree after a burn out on a dragstrip launch pad soaked with track-bite!

I bent the frame....It takes ALOT more than that!  Undecided

Wow... So you were pulling a tractor sled with 3 fat chicks on the bike, with a car tire, tied to a tree burning out on a dragstrip launch pad soaked with track-bite, and......... ?

One medium sized chick, an Oldsmobile and about 60 mph.  You really don't want to do it that way.   Shocked

It took 65 mph (HWP estimate) and a Buick. I really dont think I'm up for the Oldsmobile at 60 for comparison.   We can just guesstimate ....if that's ok?.   Undecided
