The state changed legislation to get a cut of the locally collected red light money. Now the cities don't want to bother with the leases on the reduced money. Some cameras are still in place. The leasing companies took some down when the contracts expired.

Overall I'm not a fan because it does seem unconstitutional not to face your accuser.

Here in Arizona we had red light camera’s as well as photo radar speed trap camera’s.  They got rid of the hard mounted speed trap camera’s in most locations but some of the local police departments decided to continue using a few.  ( Phoenix has one on the 51 freeway.  For some unexplained reason the speed limit is 5 mph less where the camera is mounted than in other areas before or after the camera.) We still have the roving photo radar cameras mounted on vehicles in certain towns.

I work for a roadway design firm and we proved that the speed trap camera’s especially those on the freeways were unsafe as folks were panicking and jamming on their brakes and causing unsafe backups.  Lots of skid marks about 300 feet before the camera's.  We had video tape of such events shot from several overhead areas.  However we also know that red light camera’s have been proven to improve intersection safety.  That was never disputed and those camera’s still exist out here.

However the state failed to pass legislation to force a driver to pay a fine that was delivered by mail so in effect nobody had to pay any of the fines which were mailed.   My fiancée got a photo radar speed trap ticket and went to the driver class.  The class instructor told the class that if any of them were there because they received their ticket in such a manner they did not have to be there and did not have to pay the fine.

What many started to do out here was to register their car in the wife’s name and the wife’s car in the husbands name.  If the photo showed a male and the car was registered to a female or vice versa, then the ticket was never mailed.

Then there was the guy who had 129 photo radar tickets.  I believe those were delivered in person and the guy got a free ride in a cruiser.

At least this is what is going on out here in Arizona.

Speaking of such, I believe we are the only state that has emissions testing for motorcycles.  Does any other state do testing of motorcycles?

people are running yellow lights that turn red. not steady red lights. but the fine Americans of this country are scared easliy when the Truth is not in them. tell a lie, half truth, mis resprentation of the truth long enough and it becomes the truth.

simple solution that is use throughout many areas of the country.  ALL lights stay red for 3-5 seconds. nobody moves, intersection is clear and then a light changes. these areas have very, very few accidents. simple solution, but then these companies and local towns cannot make millions or otherwise known as unaccountable tax dollars plus the increased revenue to the insurance companies with increased rates due to the violations. are they all in cohoots with each? do insurance companies and other large corps influence the politicians on all levels esp when large amounts of revenue will be coming in to the legal thieves (AKA politiicans/town counsels etc.)?
u decide.

I don't get your point, your loved one will still be maimed or killed whether there was a camera there or not. or does the camera somehow prevent inattentive drivers from running a red light?

Not true, not true!!!

Here in Arizona where we have red light camera's the number of incidents where people run red lights have been cut by over 80%.  How can we tell?  Well there are traffic monitoring camera's located on most intersections and we monitor the activity on those intersections.  There is a much higher incidence of red light running at the intersections that do not have the red light camera's and a higher number of acccidents.

If there wasn't' so many arrogant people who think that traffic laws are for everyone else except them, we wouldn't have a need for red light or speed cameras.  Those cameras are of no concern to those who follow the traffic laws.  Lips Sealed

Red light camera's are nothing more than a "stupid wingnut" tax.

If its red ... stop ... ya stupid wingnut

If its green .. go ... ya stupid wingnut

If its yellow and you cant stop before it turns red ... your drivin to fast through a intersection ... ya stupid wingnut

I know a guy, employee of a good friend, who drove through a green light and saw the camera flash. He knew he wasn't speeding, so he went around again to see if the camera would flash. It did. He went around and the camera flashed on green, and early amber lights where no infraction was occurring. He was going to inform the local RCMP, but never got around to it.

Six weeks later he got 6 tickets in the mail for driving withour a seatbelt!

You never know...

Hmmmm. Not around here. They are running red lights. Steady red. Sure, when they were 30-40 feet from the intersection, the light turned red. That's 3 or 4 car lengths. They KNOW that they are going to be running a red light. Period. They just don't really care, it's the OTHER guy who will get in the accident. THAT is the mistruth/half truth that they believe in!!

Another trick around here, is totally disregard for stop signs, going from a side road to the highway. They don't even slow down at all. If you are in the left lane, where I tend to be now, they pull into the right lane, without slowing down past 15 mph. If you are in the RIGHT lane, they cut out right in front of you, into the LEFT lane. There goes my "out" - I can't pull into the left lane to avoid them, they are already there. THAT'S why I drive in the left lane to begin with. I've STILL had quite a few cross into the left lane, forcing me into the right, but I'll take my chances there, if I have to at all. I see this at least once a day, sometimes MANY times a day!!

I'd heard it wasn't so much the emissions, as the revenue  the state got from the reclaimed oil they received from the dripping Harleys...helps balance the budget!

gosh, i hope they hurry up and but more cameras here in colo. maybe in my bedroom too, gotta really love the govt. wanting to see everything we do, huh ?

i got one of them photo radar tickets in the mail a week or so after i got home from phoenix. i called the court in maricopa county who told me the tickets were not valid unless you were served in person, that no one was going to hire a summons server to serve it in colorado, so if they had not served me personally in 90 days to throw it away. they said the judges would not hear the cases in maricopa county. those camera are owned by some company in austrailia who leases it all to the state and collects the lions share of the fine money. so only austrailia wins here.

maybe some day soon they will come get my guns, and finish raising my kids, government - they are here to help us, right ?

personally i am really glad God is still in control.
