I’ll preface this by saying I’m not trying to start something here so it would be great if we could keep this low key and unbiased.  I’m certainly not interested in insulting anyone’s product, work, or bike.   I would just like to get some feedback.

My pipes and headers were damaged in my last accident so I’m looking at putting a new set on.  My old ones were stock, and I cut the piggies and drilled out all but the front baffles.  I then added the 36 inch truck stacks.  I liked the look, and the tone was just about right but I'd still have liked something a little deeper without having to go louder.

Since I ride to work and back daily (80 miles)  I don’t want to go deaf but want to be heard. So if necessary loosing a “few” horses to get there is not going give me heartburn.

Here’s were I’m at.  I purchased a fairly new set of stockers on e-bay about a year ago, couldn’t beat the price.  I’ve been saving them in case a change was needed, yet I’m not convinced that I’m going to want to use them, or if I use them what I'll do this time to modify them, perhaps instead I'll go the way of Cobra…

Based on your experience, observations, and reviews how would proceed?

Appreciate you thoughts, Bob

I had cobra pipes on my trike,,hated them loud but not mellow like I wanted.
They were also very hot.

I found a pair of stock pipes on ebay,,sent them to Mark T to put on his glasspacks..

Love them loud enough for me but mellow,,,sounds like a small block Chevy from the sixtys

Had the cobras, ran them with wrapped baffles. Kinda Big block meets indy car. Loud riding. Stupid if you get throttle happy. Ditched them for stock interstate pipes.

Mark T has MANY different systems available and I seem to remember him offering some that were adjustable to some degree with removable silencers made from factory baffles. Possibly your stock inner baffles could be of use to him ???.  Worth a call forsure !!!     cooldude

I've got an early set of MarkT's on my bike, have put about 95,000 or so miles on 'em (And I bought 'em used, they had quite a few before that.) I love that they're based on the stock pipes (Double walled, no/less blueing), they increase, or at least don't decrease power, and with the 'bones if I'm going to the Bike Night and wanna rumble with the straight pipe set, I can slap the bones in and have virtual straight pipes. Then, the vast majority of the rest of the time, take the bones out and I get a nice mellow rumble from the glass packs...

I don't have any issue with the cobra's, I wanted six pipes. I bought wrap for them , but the wife said they were fine.
